Oh I agree -0.5 was far to small my recommendation would have been what I think they have tried to change it to i.e. -1.5 (-1 to -2 basically is fine prob -1.5 is great) however I think they messed up.  My save game has all my systems mutinous with e.g -240 approval from senators alone.  -15 approval "each absent senator" on 0.23 compared to 0.2.

Yup, I can confirm.  I pulled out the Cravers to test this, and my Militarists handily won, but my Haroshem were ever-so-slightly inclined towards Ecology, so my main system has -90 from lack of representation.  Definitely looks like a bug to me.  You look like you're at +2 per represented senator, and -15 for every non-represented, which is crippling.

Thanks Mailanka, (pic says it all) I just loaded up a new game with Horatio played 20 turns until after election and can confirm it's bugged with new and old save games for update 2.  Dictatorships are basically unplayable as things stand after 20 turns.  So over to you now Amplitude.  Hopefully you'll see this thread when you get into work tomorrow.

I suggest people who want to play with the Horatio/Cravers anytime soon give this thread a bump to get their attention.

EDIT (Other than that the consumption fix and the few small additions since the last patch (0.2.0) all look great looking forward to playing more when this issue is patched)

I personally find the approval/disapproval from dictatorships to be far too small.  The -30 we were getting before was heavy, I can see the case for that, but -0.5 is so negligible, it's not worth discussing, certainly not to the point where I'd dump turns and turn into propaganda to avoid it.  But to avoid a -15, I might.

Or are you seeing -15 x each missing senator, like if you're missing 3, you get -45 happiness?  I didn't see that sort of behavior in 0.2.0, but I'm still working on getting o.2.3 up and running.

This make the horatio even more useless now i have 0 approval on my homeworld at turn 21 thats all but balanced...

At least horatio is religious so you can even things out with the approval law.

Hi guys!

This is going to be addressed soon (I don't know when exactly though) but I think we're going to make something like -5 (if I am to believe the current value in the XML)

What you guys can do until the next patch is to tweak the values so you can play with the factions without being crushed by disapproval:

1. Open the directory Steam\steamapps\common\Endless Space 2\Public\Simulation

2. Open this file: SimulationDescriptors[ColonizedStarSystem].xml with a text editor of your choice such as Notepad++

3. Find this line (I think it should be around line 94)

<Property Name="HappinessPenaltyPerRepresentative"             BaseValue="5"  MinValue="Negative"/>

4. Change the BaseValue to the number you see fit!

I hope this helps!

Edit:

You can also change the penalty for dictatorships in particular:

1. Open the directory Steam\steamapps\common\Endless Space 2\Public\Simulation

2. Open this file: SimulationDescriptors[Government].xml with a text editor of your choice such as Notepad++

3. Find this line (should be around line 26)

<Modifier TargetProperty="HappinessPenaltyPerRepresentative"    Operation="Multiplication"     Value="3"      Path="./ClassEmpire/ClassStarSystem"   />

4. Change the Value to the number you see fit!

I just loaded an old save so it could just be that but...

Representatives not in senate caused -0.5 approval (unhappiness) each previously now it seems to be - 15!  I imagine someone meant to change it from -0.5 to -1.5 each and forget the decimal?

I could be mistaken.  Think the patch needs updating again if I'm right.

- Macsen.

EDIT:  So it was bugged like I thought, but it wasn't a missing decimal point.  There are some good posts by a dev and others on how to fix the dictatorship anarchy issues (until 0.2.4 is out) caused by the lack of senate approval later in the thread.

Oh my! Thanks, the disapproval from Rep not in the Senate was driving me crazy with the Horatio.

However, it seems that there is a bug with the "Suppress" feature: It decreases the "Mutinous" bar but it doesn't consume the 10 Manpower.

The 10 Manpower is taken from the overall empire Manpower and not from the system if I am not mistaken.

Even a -5 seems too much especially since the bonus per pop for representatives in the senate is a +2.

I think it is only fair for the negative value to be the same, or at least half the positive value.

So, I've noticed this bug too. I've been getting around it by inacting the law to force contentment, basically making -95 approval be content. Which is also really good for taking all gas planets and getting the boost from them! But I do have a question. How exactly does represenative in the senate work? Does this mean the the idealogy needs to have won at least some part of the vote? or does it meen they have to have a senator of their ideology?

Yep, can confirm. I have -150 approval on my Horatio planet and I'm currently headed towards full-on rebellion. NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

Lol well another way to fix it at least as the horatio is changing to a democracy, i did this and everything went smoothly due their pop bonus and my focus on influence the religious support was extremely high and  everyone was happy, i proceded to conquer the entire galaxy.

Yeah, maybe the other way to fix it is to remove the election process of the dictatorship government, which does not make much sens in the first place.

The player could change the leading party by spending a huge amount of influence for example.

Dictatorships wear the "clothes" of other ruling systems in name and form and have elections it's just that they often are effectively meaningless and just a propaganda tool to make the naive/ignorant non elite members of that society think they have some say.  So I'd disagree that they don't make sense.

There's really no need to kill the patient to cure the problem the unrepresented senator approval amount just needs to lowered from -15 to a more reasonable amount in a future patch.
