Maybe Amoeba? Because they're both more or less water based.

Well, yeah, but then again so are the Gnashast, and we don't know if any other Minor Factions will be aquatic in the future.

If I'm not mistaken, this is an early design that will not feature in the game.

I have a question about the artwork... is the new Ecologist faction featured in any of the ones released so far?

You know, a sneaky cameo that nobody suspects?

From what I remember, the Lumeris were featured in artwork as background characters before their reveal.

I'm sorry, but answering this question would significantly dampen the pleasure we take in following your speculations. No answer.

I see... or rather, I don't see.

They have been featured in group artwork for the races then. There are three likely candidates: the robo-dude talking to the Sophon, the striped green hammerhead alien or the greyish gorilla aliens.

They are the only ones that make sense.

The robo dude talking to the sophon is the one that makes more sense in my opinion im okay with the greyish gorilla but i hope that the green hammerhead alien belongs to a minor faction or something i dont like his look.

I guess we'll find out later this month then?

Too bad, but it will live as a neat wallpaper.

Yeah, we figured it would be something along those lines... the same probably goes for a lot of minor factions present in the artwork but not in game?

If I'm not mistaken, this is an early design that will not feature in the game.

Aren't we also getting two more Aquatic Minor Factions in the next updates?

Yes, and one of them (called the Neris) is an aquatic race with spaceships that "are more like verdant aquariums than typical sterile ships."

Here's a piece of art for the game that features an aquarium-style ship

This is grouped along with other Lumeris in-game and concept art. So I'm guessing they could be the Lumeris sub-faction.

I think there are two of them since there is also a Pacifist hive-mind coral species?!? Or at least that's what I'm getting from reading their description.

Actually the Gnashast would be great they fit pretty nice with the lumeris think about it.

They are militarist while the lumeris are pacifist that might lead to some interesting politics.

They are both waterborne

The Gnashast could provide the military muscle of the lumeris empire lorewise i could see them as mercenaries, bouncers and bodyguards while the lumeris are the guys in charge of making dust, it would be a nice symbiotic relation and i would love to see a nice artwork of a lumeris with two Gnashast bodyguards behind him/her it would be cool.

Now for the cravers it might be difficult but i think that the harosheem could do fine but it would need a change in lore i had this idea. A harosheem ship landed on the planet and they were captured by the cravers to work as farmers/cattle to produce their food that allowed the cravers to survive on their planet till they reached the space age again.

Hey guys! I've been toying around with the Sophons in a recent game I found this when I was exploring the galaxy:

Like Auriga, it appears that this planet called Sykagoja was a Concrete Endless world used for bio-experimentation, entertainment (blood sports) and medical research. According to the description in-game, the Hissho were genetically modified on this planet then forced to fight for their master's entertainment.

However, I'm sort of confused by the lack of details, and I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone could answer:

1) Were the Hissho native to Sykagoja, or did the Endless just relocated specimens here for testing? I haven't' been able to find any details about the Hissho homeworld in ES1 or ES2, as the planet isn't named in the lore.

2) Why were the Concrete Endless such jerks? Granted, the Virtuals were far from being saints, but before ES2, previous lore had us believe that the Concrete faction was somewhat more "conservative" and less "indulgent" than their counterparts. Yet with EL and ES2 lore, they seem to have turned into vicious, bloodthirsty, bored gods with the attention span of toddlers.

3) If the events that took place on this planet are to be believed, then the ancestors of the Hissho were aware that the Endless intervened in their evolutionary process, yet in more recent times, they deny any involvement:

The Hissho themselves hold that they evolved from avian creatures, independently of a higher alien race. However, there are some vague indications that the Endless at the very least tampered with their evolutionary path for their own amusement.

Why are they lying about it?

4) Also, on the subject of evolution, what are the Mavros? Are they Sophons with different political views? A subspecies? Both?

When and why did they decide to split from their geeky brothers?

And finally, I thought it was cool how the Amoeba troops use suits like the Vodyani to interact with other species on land:

It's little details like this that make the game so much more immersive.

Is there anywhere we can see how all the Minor Faction land units look like? I'm really curious to see what other factions use as tanks/fighters.

Well lorewise i think it would make more sense this way.

UE + pilgrims

Sophons + mavros

Horatio + no one

Cravers + No one

Vodyani + no one

Lumeris + i dont know

Doesnt seem balanced, and to be honest i would prefer if factions started without minors.

4) They're absolutely the same species as Sophons, but seem to have a physiological difference in attitude. Whereas the Sophon are naturally drawn towards creation, the Mavros are naturally drawn to destruction. Their societies each reflect this: The Sophons remain a major player in the galaxy due to their immense intellect; The Mavros are comparatively irrelevant because of their inability to create anything non-destructive.

This right here is why their subrace should not be the pilgrims but the mavros. Having a science and militarist conflict is AMAZING politically. Especially since their story quests are all snowbally. You go military and you get like 5 straight military missions and vica versa.

Another benefit is that, aside from a little bit of quest re-writing (spoilers?), it would make tons of sense for the Sophons cultural counterpart to be on the same planet as them.

Pilgrims make sense lore-wise too, but I think the gameplay dynamics of Mavros-Sophons militarist-scientist is more interesting than the somewhat contradictory Pilgrims-Sophons religious/scientist-scientist pairing.

I think lorewise and from in-game text, the Sophon society has always meed multicultural and has included other species in it, unlike the Cravers who eat, kill or work to death whoever isn't the same as them.

As for the Mavros, I think the vast majority of them left Hekim quite a while back, as they seem to be known around the galaxy as mercenaries and builders.
