We went through a lot of rebalancing of Infallible Authority. The last version on our side is a +X FIDSI per Pop, but if I'm not wrong it might still be a +X FIDSI per Hero Level per Pop on yours ?

Yes in 1.0.16 preview it's per level per pop, which as you see in the screenshot gets pretty massive. I do love the per level skills in general, they make for a very desirable hero, but I think this one was a little much :D

I could run the game yesterday. However, today ES2 hangs on the 'loading' screen while trying to launch the game to the main menu. 


I tried reverting to release and back to the preview with no success.


Edit: Restarting the computer did the trick. Odd bug.

Oh right, I forgot to try dx10. That did the trick and I can load that save file and start a new game. Thank you!


I still get an error window for alt-tabbing, but now it does not crash the game. Here are fresh files, running in dx10.

Maybe your scan radius? It's a little larger than the influence bubble (and larger still with a particular exploration reward).

Summary / Title

Competitive Quest: Invisible Chains uncompleteable


Description

The quest doesn't count any of the built Gamma Analysis Platforms towards quest progression. You can also build an infinite number of them on one system instead of them being limited to 1 quest building / system.


Steps to Reproduce

Start the competitive quest Insivible Chains and try building Gamma Analysis Platforms. Observe that you can build an infinite number of them and none of them count towards quest progression, doesn't matter whether built on separate or different systems.


Reproducibility

? Not sure. Speaking from experience of my first game with 1.0.16.


Expected Behavior

The quest counts built Gamma Analysis Platforms towards quest completion. Only one Gamma Analysis Platform can be built per system (three max for entire empire?).

So maybe this is supposed to be obvious, but it seems entirely opaque to me {one of my recurring criticisms of the game): what the heck is that colored pulse that bursts forth from every system in the galaxy every few turns, extending far out from a given system... Based on Influence I guess? Is it a new Pacific conversion thing, or a visual representation of Migration attractiveness, or what?


It usually only extends slightly further than a systems Area of Influence, but sometimes in a recently conquered system there will be a gigantic pulse that extends much further.

So it seems your card cannot run some graphic performance improvements that we have done. 


Can you try to run in GPU emulation mode? Right click on Endless Space 2 in your library, select properties. In the General tab, click on Set Launch Options, and input "dx10". This will run the advanced rendering stuff on your CPU, which could actually give you better performance since your GPU is rather old.


We will take you GPU into account for the next build.

Workaround:

  1. Verifying local file integrity does not help
  2. Reverting Beta batck to latest patch resolves the issue

Following workaround also worked:

1. Start new game

2. Load save game from new game


Having tried out hte new patch found that:

  • Galaxy map GUI reponse times are much better
  • AI offered to join Alliance - something they have never done before
  • No improvement can be noticed for battle result calculcation when the AI will retreat from a clearly overwhelming force (takes ardoun 7-8 seconds)

The AIs in my game don't seem to be passing laws properly, judging by the fact I'm in 1st place for passing all parties' laws while having only passed 1 party's:

Just wanted to echo to the good. Late game perf is doing great! The only bug I've noticed so far is just the one I've been experiencing for the last few builds (UI graphically freezing, but still "interactable").

Quick Update on my further findings: 


(Turn 248 - Colossal Size map - 7 A.I. players)


the good:

- Turn 248 and game performance is brilliant!

- diplomacy have been massively improved but still needs polishing (factions tend to ask for truce all the time)

- some A.I. factions have already been destroyed by other A.I. and that's great!


the bad:

- only the UNFALLEN faction bulds very powerful carriers with long range weapons and no other faction do that (they stay with short range weapons)!

- in battle screen with the unfallen empire i get very frequent framerate drops! (it doesn't happen with other factions)

- Diplomacy still needs a lot of work such as A.I. personality..

The A.I. is definitely a weak spot of ES2 now in both fleet building and aggression towards the player. I'm at turn 263 at serious difficulty and have no challenge at all. They only defend and ask for truce. I hope to see some improvements in the next build!
