UPDATE: Turn 224. Other A.I. factions build dozens of carriers with only short range weapons... easily destroyable for me... definitely needs to be addressed cos it's a gamebreaker... :-( 

Great news for the game running smooth. I guess the programmers will be happy to learn their efforts were worthwhile. 


We will look into this short range weapons thing.

  • Summary / Title: Crash to desktop on loading save
  • Description:   The game crash to desktop when I try to load any save game
  • Steps to Reproduce: launch the game then try my save? not sure it's applicable outside my hardware/OS environment.
  • Reproducibility:  5/5
  • Expected Behavior: The save should be loaded without CTD :p
  • Version: 1.0.16

edit : tried without succes few common workaround : drivers/win7 updates/compatibility mode/admin mode ... by the way @AmpliMath, if you are hostage from a guy called E. M. just ask for help, I know he could come to force you to work on sunday ;p

Hi all,


We are preparing a new update, with a lot of improvement, especially on the performance optimization area. We have implemented drastic improvements in AI, command processing, visibility and influence computation, and input lag issues. 


Optimizing is great, but it can result in bugs and regressions. We have been testing this new version internally and with our QA, but we could use a bit more help. For those who feel bold and want to help, we would love to have your feedback on this build. You may experience game blockers and crashes, but the improvement on this build is such that I think it deserves you give it go. Please note that at the moment, this preview version is only available for Windows users.


To avoid having the whole community migrate to this version accidentally, we have added a password to access this build : PreviewTest1016


To install the build:

  • Select the properties of the game by right clicking on Endless Space 2 in our Steam library
  • Click the "Betas" toggle and input the password PreviewTest1016
  • You may have to restart Steam to be able to select "preview (1.0.16)" in the list of betas you want to opt in
  • Wait for the download to complete and play the game.


If you encounter issues, please report them in this thread! If you're unfamiliar with reporting issues, here is the best way to proceed.


Detailed release notes will follow once we progress on finalizing this version for the whole community.

Hi,


I'm not sure it's coming with the 1.0.16 but I encounter a bug during the game :

  • Summary / Title: Lost Minor Faction Quest
  • Description:  Having a quest with a minor faction  to assimilate them, but an AI complete the quest (explore an anomaly) and get the minor faction.
  • Steps to Reproduce: Load the save BeforeLost and wait for the AI to esplore the anomaly on the system
  • Reproducibility:  We reload the game, and we reproduce it each time.
  • Expected Behavior: Only one player could have a quest simultanity for a minor faction, so I expected I would just lost the quest and need to ask an other one.
  • Version: 1.0.16 - MP game with AI

Playing a game with Horatio where I ran into some bugs described below. Saved game file is attached

Bug 1

  • Summary / Title: Cannot attack AI I am at war with.
  • Description:  Am at war with the United Empire (Urlov AI) but cannot attack there fleet in the Yedix system. Presumably cannot attack them anywhere else. And it also seems like they cannot attack me. They have been ramping up a fleet in the Yedix system when the War started but have not Invaded...
  • Steps to Reproduce: Try to attack United Empire (Urlov AI) with fleet in Yedix.
  • Reproducibility:  5/5
  • Expected Behavior: I should be able to attack an AI I am at war with and they should be able to attack me.
  • Version: 1.0.16

Bug 2

  • Summary / Title: System improvement is blocking  system building queue after beeing built.
  • Description:  After building Glorification of the Gorgeous in Yedix it remains in the building queue with red lettering and an exclamation mark besides it. When I try to remove it from the queue nothing happens. Some turns earlier I had the same thing with Infinite Supermarkets. To remedy this I scrapped the Infinity Supermarket after wich the Infinity markets in the queue said there was only one turn production left. Next turn it was completed and the queue was empty. Same procedure did not work with the Glorification of the Gorgeous though.
  • Steps to Reproduce: N/A
  • Reproducibility:  N/A
  • Expected Behavior: Glorification of the Gorgeous should be removed from the building queue after having been built.
  • Version: 1.0.16

one more thing: most A.I. factions have only 5 movement points, Lumeries included in the screenshot above.

Just wanted to share my thoughts and various situations i've come across reaching turn 181 so far while playing this beta branch of E.S.2


interesting screenshot about the A.I. 

it just SITS DOWN HERE WHILE I AM CONQUIRING ITS SYSTEMS WITH MUCH WEAKER FLEETS. SO something is definitely wrong... most weapons are still SHORT RANGE. Other FACTIONS ARE DOING BETTER JOBS

  • Summary / Title: Regression when doing quick start and choosing 'random' galaxy type - will always repeatedly pick the same random type over and over.
  • Description:  When you pick a random galaxy choice, the 'quick start' feature always keeps the same random galaxy type every single time.  As soon as you do a 'new' game this appears to re-randomize.
  • Steps to Reproduce:
  •  1. Start a new game with 'random' galaxy picked. Restart game using quick start. 
  • Reproducibility: 5/5
  • Expected Behavior: Random anything on quick start should be just the same as a new game, period.
