I'd put this in Bug Report, but when I did that 6 months ago, I was left with neither answer nor fix. This is a simple issue; the vodyani theme sounds really low-quality, that's it. No idea what's causing it, but it's an annoying issue that, in my simpleton non-developper point of view, is easy to mend.

try verifying your game files on steam, because the music is just fine on my end.

I do not believe so, I am not missing the soundtrack or anything, it's just the specific vodyani theme that sounds low-quality in-game. I've done a bad job of describing the problem with the track, my bad, so here goes : It isn't so much distorted as just low quality, like the headphone's cable is only plugged in 2/3rds of the way in. 

It is also ONLY the vodyani main theme, all other soundtracks inc. vodyani intro are fine.

guys pls, it's really annoying and still in the game, yes i've tried reinstalling, verifying the game cache, tried deleting the soundbanks THEN verifying, disabling/enabling surround sound, nothing works

I didn't record completely, but towards the end, the drums don't play either; there's only the chorus.

I think the effect on the vocals is just a play on the fact the Vodyani want to become Virtual and not a bug.

No, it is clearly fuzzy and low-quality; listen to the true thing on youtube and my recording back to back

tried to replace it myself by converting an mp3, managed to somehow remove all music  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

You should be able to redownload the soundtrack by verifying your game files, and hopefully this time around it wouldn't be a distorted version?

This seems so strange.  I'm certain I don't have this problem.  Why would Steam selectively do this for your files and not mine?

Here's the weird thing: I can hear the drums from the clip. It's a bit fainter (due to overall lower sound volume), but I can hear it just fine using earbuds. The official clips on youtube is way louder on the same sound volume, so maybe that's why you hear it better on there?

Also, there is actually two variants of that theme: the early access version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12x8EANwK-I) and the release version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rZlsad_hNQ). I can't determine if the clip you recorded belongs to which version due to the short length of it, but maybe you can try compare it and see which theme it is more similar with.
