Missiles can't get through flak at all

That pretty much sums it up. Missles are useless if your oppenent has a single flak weapon per large ship or a single small ship loaded with flak is enough to protect a 20cc full flotilla.


If your oppenent has no flak missles are extremely dangerous but this situation will almost never occur. Projectiles at short ranges only match the damage of beams IF your fleet can make it to short range, and even in this case they are only matching the dps, this situation would be better if flak and kinetics dramatically outdamaged other weapons at short, but in there current state they do not.


Fighters are not functioning as a counter to bombers either. They are never worth the use of a weapons slot as bombers will gaurantee some ship to ship damage or better to equip flak just in case for the situational missles. 


Bottom line. 

flak is too efficient

fighters do not counter bombers

beams and lasers are the same weapon 

battle cards usefullness is limited as there are only three to four cards that are worth it. Barrage fire, get lucky, and en passat (something like that)

I would like a sum up of the main issues of the combat system at the moment.


For the moment in my mind (so not sure i understand the whole thing) it's :

  • Beam are super polyvalent, making it strong in all situations once you have the good tactics cards. It's probably ok but the following stuff put them above all the other weapons.
  • Lasers are not so different from beams, even a bit better in most of the situation. So they are not the medium weapon they should be.
  • Missiles are very weaks, they are hard to use, and flaks make them totally useless
  • Slugs are very hard to use as a weapon (i am ok with that personaly because they do a ton of dmg)
  • The combination of those facts make energy weapons the most safe AND strong weapons at the same time, so there is no reason to research kinetics weapons exept if you are an extcentric who love fireworks ?
  • A lot of tactics are too situationnal, weak, but some of them are godlike, so the tactical cards meta game is very reduced
  • I didnt understood the defense stuff for the moment. But apparently there is still an issue, like they are now equally strong but need to be more specialized.
