Every time I try to load a game it crashes with no explanation.

Try starting a new game. Then load your "old savegame" from there.
It works for some people.

When is the save game from? If it is from before the most recent patch you may be unable to load it on the current patch. You can change the version of your game in steam by going to properties, betas, then select the game version you need.
