Started a game last night with 3 random AI opponents, and all 3 were Sheredyn. I know RNG is random and all that, but I don't like picking the AI so that there is some surprise in what I'll be up against. How hard can it be to just discard any random AI if one is already present? Having three of the same faction is just silly.

I was playing with 7 AI and I had 3 Sowers and 3 United Empires and 1 Amoeba. So I agree with you that it should least change the AI opponents or give you an option to re pick them. I do not mind having two of the same races on larger maps.

I've seen some of this behavior too. I wonder if maybe the RNG they're using isn't work quite right.

The RNG algorithm is probably evenly distributed among the races per pick. I would also hazard a guess that each subsequent pick does not shift the distribution percentage based on its previous picks.
