No, unlike in civilisation you cannot get other player's systems, when they fall under your influence.

Your colonies in your influence sphere get a bonus, as well as other player's colonies get a malus, if they are under your influence.

You can use influence to protect unclaimed systems, though. If a system no one has colonized falls under your influence, the other players can't colonize that system. And vice versa, if the uncolonized system is under someone else's influence.

Hmm...Maybe, I've never seen it happen though. I'll have to test that out next time an instance like that comes up in a game.

Do you get a combat bonus if an enemy system is within your sphere of influence? I thought there was an upgrade or something that gave you a bonus for fighting in your territory. I suppose it does depend on how the game defines your territory though.

If your influence is strong enough to cancel the enemy system influence and you have a line from your system to this system then in cold war you can attack the system like if it's an outpost out of any enemy influence.

EDIT: What I mean it's a little like Civ4 culture influence except that you have to do manually the last step. Also you don't have has much tools for that than in Civ4.

EDIT2: And if human could see this as pacific conquest, AI aren't fooled by this and consider it like pure aggression in Civ4, like an aggression during cold war in ES (Disharmony)
