I am close to supremacy victory and I can't find the homeworld of one of the factions that was eliminated previously- it seems it is the last homeworld I don't have right now. Any suggestions?

Basically they still retain the little crown. Normally homeworlds are evenly distributed across the Galaxy so look around at some distance to the others.

Yup, homeworlds cannot be moved, and if you conquer another empire's homeworld the crown remains. So if you own every system in an eight-player galaxy, you have eight crowns under your control smiley: stickouttongue
