So... new and overwhelmed player here. Just curious, how did you guys (who really are into the game) first approach learning it. Trial and error? Spending lots of time reading guides/faqs? Other?



Any tips for how to keep my head above water are greatly appreciated. I'm heading over to read forums and guides now.

I played civilisation before so I knew the basics when I came into this game. Played one quick game just to make sure I did on serious difficulty which I won no problem, then went and played multiplayer. Then I learned I seriously had a lot to learn aout custom factions :P

Just like Gameslayer, I learned from playing civilization for years, and then when I randomly came upon this game, I learned through trial, error, and discovery. It is what made it fun for me.

I tend to play different games and I always liked sci-fi games and I saw ES in a steam sale and Purchased it a long with Disharmony. I visited the forum and read a few things and generally messed around. I would stay I am not great as I have not played above easy difficulty or Multi-player. I have watched some of the MP games that have been streamed.
