How does one refill one's troop modules faster? I've got oodles of Tender ships I created with just the best Repair module and minimal weaponry in the same friendly system as my Troopships, but refilling them is still painfully slow. Does anyone know why that might be? Do the Tenders have to actually be in the same fleet as the troopships for the Repair modules to make any difference.



As an aside, it might be a good idea to make a way to quickly refill troop modules by going to friendly systems and sacrificing one population to fill, say, 2 troops slots. Also, I am surprised that building Colony Ships doesn't reduce your population. Shouldn't it cost one population to build one ship with a Colony module? Otherwise, people could build bookoo Colony Ships and send them out without having to replenish the colonists sent, which would seem to make expansion WAY too easy. Just my thoughts. God bless all.

While I haven't played ES in the last few weeks, I'm almost certain that Colony Ships cost population the last time I played.

You could be correct about that, actually. Now that I reviewed it, not only does it take one population point to make a colony ship, if you colonize more than one planet, you can't take the last population from any one planet to make a colony ship. So, if you have 3 planets and all are colonized with 3 total population between the planets, you have to wait until your population reaches at least 4 before you can build a colony ship there.

you could "upgrade" your ship desgign, and then retrofit the ships, this costs you population accordingly(unless you're Horatio), well and dust.



PS: anyone noticed any effect of the AI Troops? I mean I often try to get them fairly early(still utterly lategame), unless I'm horatio, but when I do build the Ai troop ships I do get the feeling that I'm actually loosing population :/

I don't think that building Troop ships costs population, oddly enough. Not that I have encountered, anyways, but I've only played 318 hours worth of the game, so there is stuff I may have missed.

troop modules regenerate over time. Default rate is like 1 Troop every 8-10 turns (ish) I think. Haven't tested extensively, but it does occur in my experience.
