Trying to understand how the mechanics works, several posts on these forums, including the "Battle Card English Text Rewrites" mod https://www.games2gether.com/endless-space/forum/37-modding/thread/16337-released-battle-card-english-text-rewrites tells me blocking a card adds the ( ) effects to the main one.



The Wiki tells me something else:

the "Block" effects replace the original effect entirely. All above information is defined in "BattleCard.XML

Also, the wiki says that "Short circuit" gives

-40% (-10%) enemy kinetic projectiles +20% (-20%) enemy beam defense

This is very different from the

-15% accuracy for enemy weapons (block: -20%)

it says everywhere else. Anyone know what the actual effect is?

The game files says -15% accuracy on opponent, +10% accuracy on self long-range weapons; counter effect is doubled. Note that this is 15% of the accuracy value. So an accuracy of 0.5 becomes 0.425

I am revising the information on the wiki, based on this information

This meaning that the "Block" effect is indeed added to that of the original effect. Thus when Barrier blocks, your ships now have +150 pts. of armor instead of just 50 pts.
