Hey everyone,



I just bought this great game and am really enjoying it. However, I've recently encountered something that I don't understand and can't find an answer to.



I recently conquered an enemy system and found that, on my next turn, my military upkeep immediately skyrocketed from 114 to 144. No new ships were built or anything of the sort. Why would conquering a new system cause my upkeep to increase like that? Could this be a bug?

Well, there's one question: Have you researched a cp-improving technology, that turn? In that case, you'd have an increased ship upkeep to pay.
