My friend wants me to upgrade to disharmony. Is it worth the $10. Does not seem like any real significant changes, at least for me.

The main advantage is the improved AI-diplomacy. But in the current build (1.1.17) it's a little glitchy and gets into too many wars at once.

I'd wait for the next patch that is supposed to fix these.



They have anounced that patch a while ago so it could come out pretty soon.

Well, even if its not worth $10, it is at least worth $2.50 lol I assume you missed the sale then. Personally, I find it worth 10 dollars. Combat and invasion has depth now (as long as you look for it) and things will only get better with the free add-ons. (I wouldn't expect any more for Vanilla ES)

I enjoy most of the additions/changes in Disharmony. I bought it shortly after release, and have been happy with my purchase.



The biggest changes for me were:

1) The new unique buildings/techs/ships for each faction give them all a different flavor. Getting +200 empire-wide approval from Craver Mindcast (A tech that gives approval based on your total military power) makes conquering the galaxy much smoother, or +100% food in the early game for Horatio allows for explosive expansion, for example.

2) The military tree has fewer weapon and defense upgrades now (3 tiers of weapons/defenses per type, instead of 9, I think it was). So ships don't need to be updated and retrofitted very often.

3) Troops, bombers, and fighters add some new options to combat and invasion.

4) The AI seemed smarter. It's kind of hard to gauge it now, with it declaring war a bit too often. Hopefully that will be patched soon though.



If you already play Endless Space regularly, then I'd certainly recommend getting Disharmony.

Anyway..Disharmony will change the game a LOT for you, its basically game-changer. Being comfortable with classic and feeling confident will not protect you from the whirlwind Disharmony is. You gonna learn the ropes from the ground up especially combat is completely changed.



My intention is not to scare you off but thinking its just the same with flowers on top.....nope. Certainly worth the extra bucks.
