The title already says everything - how long does it take you to get the casimir effect, as this is a critical point in serious games in order to get the best systems in the middle of the spiral maps and get the discovery boni.

Yesterday i managed to get it within 14 rounds ( without arctic planets and colonizing ships/or technology discovered by system discovery bonus), but i guess this can be topped.

Well this also depends on the game-speed ofcourse. My best ever was on fast; 9 turns with the harmony.

Different factions also make quite the difference.

imo casimir isent anymore that important due your empire collapse if you expand too fast more then 20 systems early game and every systems hates you till they become colonies. (Except Harmony of course but they are still Underpowered anyways on normal speed games imo)

Sometime events can help by giving you the cheapest or expensive research items in queue researched immediately. The other factor is how much science is being produced. I think I normally try and get it around turn 25 in normal game.

This was my fastest as well with default harmony.

With custom faction harmony I would say you could probably do it in 4-5 turns if you were extremely lucky with your first colony. Even faster with the previous and lucky exploration events.

16-20 on normal speed depending on the planets I find around my home system is pretty much standard for me when I try hard. Turn 25-26 at the latest otherwise.

Usually around 18-20 turns if I'm aiming for an exploration-heavy game. I never wait longer than 25 turns though, I feel too vulnerable if I wait too long.

I assume this is from a perceived need to know what's on the other side of the wormhole?

I am usually very late to Casimir, because wormholes are the most reliable chokepoints I have in the game, and as long as Cravers aren't the first race showing up from the other side, the wormhole usually represents a reliable trading partner as long as I don't leave my half of the wormhole undefended.

Now if you are talking about racing to a 6 planet star where desert is the most habitable climate... well then, that is a race i have wondered what the best path to is.
