What does it take for the AI to go to war?

I was trying to play a game with a self-imposed rule of never going to war. One AI got taken out by another, over time 4 declared war on me and met their doom. That left two whose opinion of me dropped to the -200 floor and sat there. They were at peace with each other so it's not like they had another enemy to go after.

Admittedly they didn't stand a chance against me but the odds against them got worse and worse as time went on.

Most of all: their agression-value in the Races.xml ^^

It's a value from 1 to 9 and the higher it is, the more likely they will go to war with their closest target regardless of relations.

As far as I recall it's something along those lines: (better look it up because I think at least some are wrong)

Cravers 9

Hissho 8

United Empire, Sheredyn 7

Horatio 6

Automaton, Harmony 5

Sower 4

Pilgrims 3

Sophon 2

Amoeba 1

So if those two remaining AIs were Sophon, Amoeba or Pilgrims it might well have been that they didn't declare war despite being on -200 Relations.

Well then, don't I feel badly about myself now. Amoeba and Sophon happily declare war on ME!!!!...

My guess is your military might was such that they assumed they would lose the fight and since they are happier to lose the game than lose a fight, they left you alone.

all AIs always declare war on me...always!

the AI no matter what race goes rampage if you expand properly and dont begin the war ship production very early.

But mainly just because you have to many systems in their opinion -.- but man thats the importants part in the game to get enough Systems in the early game -.-

Same. Even the 'good' and 'peacefull' factions look for a weak and easy target in the early game, instead of desiring peace like they should. All the factions act warlike and evil in the early game. Am I the only one who thinks this makes the early game a tad repetitive?

And I find it kinda interesting that the Automatons are at a 5 value, when they are pacifists and isolationists. I thought they couldn't care less about xenos... but maybe im wrong

I might have mixed them up with the Sowers.

As I said, I'm not sure about those values. It's just something that I thought to remember.
