Recently started playing the game again, got the Disharmony DLC

I'm in a situation now where I am at war with Pilgrims I am Sowers (Random pick).

They have large number of fleets but they are all weak sauce, and I am having a really hard time fighting them because of the way surrender is working.

Take my current example: they sent like 20 fleets to one of my systems, and some of those fleets are invasion so they started invading. So I send a fewer number of my fleets which are very strong to try and swat their pieces of junk away. The result is every encounter I get in, they just surrender and take no hits. ZERO damage despite the claim of free damage rounds according to the text. So within the same exact turn they flee off to nearby system, and then automatically bounce right back to this one.

So I am basically playing Whack a Mole and not having any fun.

I believe you mean Retreat and not surrender. If that is the case, build ships with lots of Long Range Kinetic weapon modules. Also, send these ships to attack his fleets after they retreat.

I think I saw another thread for these. To repost my own strategies for dealing (apart from using long range kinetic/beam):

1. having less ships in each fleet so they are not so scared and run away

2. flank them with non-string travel and lock them down in another system

3. lock their fleet down, then go after other systems which will have no defense fleet whatsoever
