How do I force moving a fleet down a specific direction?

How do I move a fleet from A to move directly to B? After selecting a fleet at A and right-mouse-button on B, the fleet travels to C along the warp link and runs into an enemy fleet. I guess the code is trying to be smarter than me and auto-routes through C since 2 warp links are faster then travelling along a normal link from A to B.

Don't have the game in mind , but how about trying CTRL+ mouse? As far as i remember, i did stuff like this to avoid that kind of situation.

That's correct for straight line travel. CTRL + Right Mouse. I find that very handy.

From what I understand, you can also force waypoints so you can give commands to go a specific route (around an enemy, for instance) by using SHIFT + Right Mouse. I've never tried that though.

CTRL+Right Mouse worked! I was afraid it would trigger "green movement" but I guess since it is a direct single hop normal "blue movement" is used instead. By the way, SHIFT + Right Mouse for a single hop just did the same as a simple Right Mouse move, i.e. no effect. Thanks for your help.

the game automatically chooses the fastest route. there were two wormholes leading to B meaning you could have taken that route and got there in two turns, how many turns was the other way?

I believe it was 3 turns A to B, however as I pointed out in my original post my fleet ran into enemy fleets at C so I don't care that the A-C-B path is faster - especially since the fleet I was trying to move contained siege units with very low space combat capability.
