I would like to know, how do I invade planets in the game faster? Whenever I invade a planet with a well done fleet it sometimes takes up to about 15 or sometimes 30 turns to fully invade a planet system. I would like to know why does it take so long to invade them? How can I reduce this time to like 4 turns or something? Does anyone know?

I believe the default siege time is like, 15 turns in the normal time.

As to why I cannot fathom the new troop mechanics, as they are clearly superior.

Just research troops and a few troop ships will make blitzing planets very easy. The A.I does not use them so its very overpowered in single player.

the ai do in fact use troops frequently for rapid invasions of your empire, it happens often on the higher difficulty settings. there are a number of ways to increase the invasion time of a system. one is to send more invasion ships which can cut down times by quite a bit. another way is to use bombs against population and buildings to lower the overall defense of a system which can also save you quite a few turns, though it comes at the cost of losing improvements and population. the third way is to have a hero with a high melee level commanding your invasion fleets which can fantastically increase their invasion power. the final way is through troops. troops are made similarly to colony ships with your population, they will usually suffer incredibly high casualties especially on well defended systems, and must be supported by fighters and bombers or else their invasion will fail.
