Ok, bought the game awhile ago, but couldn’t get into. I love the 4x genre though and recently decided to give ES another chance. I’ve been loving it! Except I really can’t get a handle on the system/planet exploitation and FIDS distribution thing. Here are my questions/confusion points:

1. I can only have one system exploitation at a time – if I have built several for a system, I should be able to swap them out without having to rebuild them over each time. Is that correct?

2. Are planet exploitations cumulative? The manual states they are not, but actual game play seems to suggest they are.

3. If you are exploiting a system, and you want to queue up a ship, is the exploitation suspended while the ship is being built? Does it automatically restart upon completion of the ship?

4. Once a planet exploitation has been built the icon disappears from the planet status panel. How do I know what planet has what exploitation?

5. Dust is cumulative for all owned systems, but what about food. Is food surplus distributed empire wide, system wide, our just planet wide?

Thanks in advance for the consideration and help.

1. It is unclear what you mean by system-exploitation. At first I thought you were confusing them with planet-exploitations but then I read your 2nd question which kinda shows you are aware that they are something different.

There are system improvements and planet exploitations.

Improvements = Permanent effect that all stack

Exploitations = interchangable and replaced once you build another one

2. Cumulative with what? They are cumulative with all the other effects from improvements and the planets base-output. But you can only have one of these per planet.

3. Do you, by chance mean the Industry=>Dust or Industry=>Science projects when you talk about system-exploitation?

Those have to be halted once you want to build a ship or improvement. You must manually remove them from the queue for that.

4. It is written below the planet. There it either shows a blinking "No Exploitation" or whatever the name of the exploitation once you build it. In my mod I color-coded the exploitation so it's easier to see which one I'm using.

5. Food surplus is system wide. That's imporant to know. It means that one Tier 1 Planet (Jungle/Ocean/Terran) with food-exploitation can help the pop-growth for people on the systems barren/lava planets even if those don't produce their own food.
