already reached point where am most powerful faction. found out you can't really have trade relations with everyone cuz some factions tend to war with other ones and somebody's gonna go extinct. there this game called " the last federation" where you can use your influence to have factions do peace with one another.

it be nice if endless space has such a feature. cuz right now at am at deadend, in a way i can't really prevent certain factions from going extinct due to other factions.

sadly, don't think the developers gonna do any more update with patches on endless space anymore. cuz well there's nothing more to do in this game...smiley: confused

sounds like you are about to win the diplomacy victory at this point. Not sure if you are trying to role play something where you keep all factions alive. I think the idea is when you win the diplomacy victory you have achieved the point where the other factions defer to you as the leader (and the game calls it a victory)

Endless Legend features "Influence" as means for paying diplomatic actions. I'm almost certain that at some point this will also include factions to make peace with each other.

For ES it probably is too late to expect big changes.

my intention's not to have a diplomatic victory and the game ending but going on indefinitely for as long as i want. i 'm going for "united federation of planets" like in star trek. lol. it's not a federation if everyone's dead.

You might not be able to keep everyone alive, but you can turn off the various victory conditions under advanced settings. So, as long as you are alive, the game will continue.

This heavily depends on the races you use.

Try having a Galaxy with only Sophon, Amoeba and Pilgrim.

Those are the least likely to declare an unprovoked war.

well not sure if thats true. cuz i have a good trade with sophon and pilgrim and they are the ones trying to exterminate amoeba. i mean i want to preserve amoeba but that would require me to break relations with pilgrim and sophon and thats just too messy.

its not like i can just use political pressure to get sophon and pilgrim to stop beating on poor amoeba.

and if i can;t do that, well i dunno what else theres left to do and explore. so in my view, its a deadend and gameplaays exhausted in a sense.

This might be the wrong game for you. It would be really boring (for most of us) if the AI never declared war or could be easily bribed out of doing so.

Diplomacy is but a shell in ES. I was hoping an expansion could fix that, but looks like ES2 might.

glad someone else's on same page as me. its not even about ai being able to be easily swayed or not, it's more like there's no way to do it.

I actually like the diplomacy I have seen in Disharmony. Those who want detailed diplomacy complain about it; I get that. But what is there is effective and doesn't bog the game down.

Trades and surrenders offered (or not offered in the case of a race like Hissho) generally make sense. An AI that I'm annihilating no longer asks me to give them a planet so they will "graciously" agree to a cease fire. And while AI races don't always act smart or the way I want, there is usually some logic behind it. They are also unpredictable, which is good. Sometimes my neighbors want to be peaceful and other times they are coming for me. The diplomacy adds to the game and doesn't slow it down.

I'm reminded of the wonderful game Sword of the Stars. Its sequel added all those things that the original game "needed." What resulted was--for most of us--an unplayable mess. It has its fans, but far fewer than played and enjoyed the first game. I think SOTS2 shows that sometimes more is not better.

Don't get me wrong. I agree that a more detailed diplomacy system can add to the right game. I'm just not sure this game (ES) needs it or would be better for it.

I'm not even talking about emotional animated diplomats. Granted, that would be fun, but I'd much rather have actual diplomacy mechanics that meant something. Flavor text, actual responses to situations, etc.

Actually, some of the lines the AI has when you declare war or otherwise interact with them are hysterical and/or give flavor to that race.

i have re-evaluated my opinion n i feel i expected too much in terms of gameplay....trying to trade with everyone n maintaining everyone's existence...what is power if u cannot do what u want...

games are suppose fun n satisfaction, i'm unsatisfied with not being able to trade with everyone n maintaining everyone's survival, i mean i have the power to easily wipe out everyone n anyone if i so desired but that not what i sought.

n i say the game be better if u can trade with everyone n use your strength to maintain everyone's survival if that what one wants... either u agree or u disagree...

i compare this feeling to like the situation we have with some animal species going extinct n there is nothing you can do about it despite how much you want to preserve them...well i believe there are actions being undertaken but the confidence of success isn;t that strong..experts talked like they hoped, and that kinda tone make you feel that confidence isn;t strong enough.
