It will be the same experience now as it was when it was released. It didnt become a bad game simply because Amplitude made a new game.

ES disapointed me on every aspect of the space 4X, I thought it was much better. Its a "good" game but ... Galactiv Civ is still better in my opinion. But test it if you are curious and some money to waste. Else, go back to EL ^^

Hello,

I purchased Endless Space last saturday from the Amplitude Store because it looked very similar, but in much better terms as Moo3, a game I really liked.

However, I only received a confirmation email by «♥team pepita♥» stating my order N° 5602141 and that : "Your order will be processed as soon as possible, and recorded when our sales team has validated the payment of your order".

Since then, nothing! I've sent two emails already, that were left without reply.

Did I waist my money? Is someone working at the Paris office? or is Amplitude closed for the summer? Is there a phone number?

The shop is notorious for not working properly unfortunately. Additionally, the store is run by a partner company, Pepita. This means that Amplitude doesn't have direct abilities when it comes to the store.

I can refer you to these two links however:

/#/games2gether/forum/84-general/thread/19275-your-order-is-awaiting-confirmation-no-response

https://amplitude-studios.pepitastore.com/legend/policy.php?type=faq

and if the problem persists try making a new thread that will hopefully catch someone's attention. Since this isn't really the right place to ask about such a problem, their is a good chance that they don't see your problem.

And as for whether or not Endless Space is a good game: I can't speak for everyone, but I personally like it over both DotE and EL. I guess thats because I'm more of a sci fi 4X guy smiley: smile

Endless Space is the best 4X space game I have ever played. That doesn't mean it will be for you. It simply depends what you are looking for. Here is what it does very well:

1. Playability. You can play a large 8-player universe and finish the game in one or two sittings. The game plays fast.

2. Turn based. This is a huge plus for me. However, if you prefer real-time strategy games, it won't be a plus for you.

3. Simultaneous moves. I can play this with a friend without waiting for him to take his turn.

4. Effective auto-combat. This is IMHO the thing taken most for granted. When you first play the game, you'll want to do manual battles to enjoy the view. However, once you get some time under your belt, the auto-combat really helps the game play fast. And the results from auto-combat are pretty much the same as manual combat. (You give up the ability to change tactics, but in the vast majority of battles this is of little consequence.)

5. System-based building. This works really well and reduces micromanagement by quite a bit. Instead of building up each planet, you build an improvement once on a system and it helps all planets. This is deceptively brilliant.

6. The stages of movement. At first you can't cross wormholes and you must use node lines. This keeps you separated from other races and gives you a chance to build up before facing a war. First you research wormholes and later you research "warp" (free movement). This really works well.

7. Research is well done. You really have to make tough decisions in what to research. "Guns versus butter" is an ongoing theme.

8. Convert production to research or dust is well done. Do you build that extra warship, or do you convert that planet to research? You are constantly making decisions like this during the game.

9. Planets are well done. Each planet offers something. For example, gas giants are hardest to colonize and have penalties to happiness. However, they give the best output once you have the tech and means to keep the people happy.

10. Different ways to win that make sense.

11. Designing your own race is a blast--the best part of the game for me.

Some people think the combat or diplomacy isn't sophisticated enough. However, both work well and keep the game moving. If you're looking for an epic 4X game that will last for weeks, this isn't it. However, if you're looking for a fun, playable 4X game, you want to buy this. It just might prove to be your favorite 4X game.

PS. This is an extremely rare game that the more I play it, the more I like it.

PPS. There are a few things that could be improved; you can check out my thread on that in the Game Design subforum.

You are too kind, a few things ?? Hundreds of things could be improved ^^

But that's my point of view, maybe I expected too much from ES.

Dont make the same misstake.

It sounds like you did.

Every time I take the 2 days to figure out how to play ES because it's so damn confusing I stop playing for a few days and forget everything, I have maybe 5 hours into ES and 60 into EL lol.

TBH ES is good but still needs polished!

The planet system is one of the best ive seen in a 4x, so fluid and simple, the eco system is amazing too and everything is linked, food even has use since the DLC as you need it to build soldiers to invade.

The main thing that needs worked on is the trade system and combat system still.

For £7.50 you get the gold edition on a steam sale, you cant really complain about that.
