This game needs a quick start option, or a way to make random factions not duplicate

This is a problem that has existed since the game was released. There needs to be a way to quick start a new game using the same settings from the last game. At the very least you need to add an option so that when random factions are selected the game will not use multiple instances of the same faction. I just started a game that had four Pilgrim factions. Four. As I like to restart my single-player games a few times until I get a starting position I like (hey, you play how you want, I'll play how I want) it becomes tedious very quickly having to manually reselect the factions and galaxy settings I want. It's why I stopped playing this game for over a year. I assumed that this would be fixed by now. Please do something to address this issue so that I can resume playing it.

On another note, I just purchased Endless Legend and am really looking forward to playing it. I hope the issue I described above is not also a problem with the new game.

EDIT:

It is. I'm thinking of asking for a refund. Sigh.

I like idea of having an check-box option to have unique factions. However, while you are welcome to "play the game how you want," to get upset because the starting menu doesn't lend itself well to your particular play style seems unreasonable. I think you'll find you miss out on a lot of things in life with that attitude. I am not trying to make a personal attack; I'm really trying to give you something to think about!

You are seriously asking for refund just because of it? How can anybody seriously listen to what you have to say after this?

Still it'd be good to have and I don't understand why this option is not in the game for so long. I'd very much like to see this option in final patch with the Vaulters. Even more I'd like to see the big UI option from EL.

You seem to have answered your own question. I'm glad you agree with me.

You know what would also work? Just make the player's settings sticky on the new game screen. If it remembers the setting from my last new game, all I have to do is hit the button and go. That shouldn't take a programmer very long to accomplish.

I suggested this during the last "Streaming Session with SpaceTroll" and they said they'd look into doing this.

Thanks for bringing that up during the streaming session, Griffon. Some way to keep from plating against a bunch of duplicates would be excellent. Personally, I don't care if it stickies my choices or just throws random factions in there as long as I'm not playing a love fest against a bunch of Amoebas.

That sounds a bit kinky, maybe I should try it.

If you let it go through "first time setup" when you start the game (where it runs a short setup file, Microsoft redirect something-or-other), the game will clear the left-side-of-the-screen (Galaxy) settings.

If the game is asking you to do this when you launch it, you can prevent it by deleting the .vdf file in this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Endless Space

Alternatively, just say 'no' when it asks to run the file. This won't preserve the races selected, but at least it will preserve the Galaxy settings. The 'Settings' settings (right-side-of-the-screen) are always preserved regardless.
