Unless that too was rounded etc much like the head. I still think the idea that they still have something there in order to do their secret handshake is the most plausible...

hahaha this wouldn't surprise me. See the aerodynamic shape of their heads, with no hair, the ship design, everything points out at clean lines and aesthetics. Having something to "stick out"

Horatios and gender:

It's not entirely clear. Horatio started his life male, but after so many operations and treatments and modifications it is difficult to say if he identifies with any gender at all. As the Horatio reproduce through cloning, traditional reproductive roles don't really have a meaning. So to answer the question "Are the Horatio male or female?" I can only say "yes."

It was mentioned that he altered himself genetically. I'm not sure which gender he considered to be more beautiful, if any.
