I am very impressed, it feels like a full game already much less an alpha version! I cannot wait for the full game release this summer. One of the most fun strategy games I've played in quite some time.

I love this game.

I don't think my copy of gal civ II will be seeing any more action.

I think the camera work in the combat scenes needs some work, but otherwise I'm totally impressed.

to be honest, i played games which claimed to be 'finished' by their creators which were MUCH worse than this alpha release!

i played for 8 hours today and have to say that it's really fun - yes, there are some bugs and problems, but its an alpha, so totally ok for me

dear devs: you did an awesome job so far! making an alpha release which is better than some 'regular' releases of other companies is really nice smiley: wink

can't wait to see the next improvements

regards

I'm enjoying it very much considering it is as yet unfinished. My qualms with it have to do with the battle module, but perhaps they will be worked out with time and input from us to the developers. It is a fine first effort for this team and I look forward to more of it.

I absolutely adore the combat. I've always been a fan of indirect strategic combat; Dominions 2/3 and Reach for the Stars being particular favorites of mine. The recent trend towards RTS style combat in 4x games lately has been a bit of a downer for me.

I've only been playing for a few hours but this already the best gaming money I've spent in a long time.

Is there no way to sign up for the Alpha? I'd love to try the game out and see what I can help with (as far as Alpha/Beta testing goes)... but not so sure on ordering it. I liked Sins of a Solar Empire but I see it's different than that (turn based which I'm not a fan of).

Just put in 100 turns or so. My initial thoughts are this:

1)As everyone else has mentioned, it's incredibly well polished for an Alpha. They could probably release it as is (for the most part) and it would be a more stable release than half the games that come out now.

2)I would love to see more tweaking abilities in the ship customization options. For example, being able to divert more power to shields or engines, so I can make either fast attack fleets or slow defenders.

3)I'm still a little unsure as to how empire happiness works. I'm not sure what factors affect it and if there are any repercussions for having an unhappy empire.

4)Combat looks great and the card system is a neat idea. However, as others have mentioned, it does feel rushed having to scramble through the cards figuring out which one to play.

5)I would also like to see some abilities/buildings that allowed you to increase political favor with other empires. Perhaps options to give them favorable trade relations or something like that.

I feel like the system/engine is in a good place for the game (and as others mentioned, it's very polished for an alpha), but it's still missing that magic touch to take that gameplay to next level. Many aspects of gameplay feel a bit too shallow, but hopefully more options will emerge as the game development progresses.

It's quite impressive. It's even hard to keep in mind that it's only an Alpha sometimes... Ok it's easy to spot the things that are just placeholders and there are a few bugs here and there. But fact is this game has a huge potential, even if it will require much more good ideas and polishing of the existing features.

My first impression after 100 turns, is that this game is very very light. Is there actually any decisions to be made, everything seems to be obvious. That needs to be finetuned in future releases, more depth and options to manage you empire. More brains, more oldschool smiley: biggrin !

I have to mainly agree with Mannerheim- game's fantastic for an alpha stage however, and the depth is probably on its way. I'm finding myself quite happily addicted to this title so far!

I am quite impressed by the game! I had not a single crash or graphic bug. It seems to be a good peace of quality software, so far. But I also have to agree, that it would be great to find more depth in the game. I hope for more general game strategies (a spy empire, or focus on trade...) and more impact of player decisions in battle for example (more cards, taktics, formations...).

Great work! Keep on impressing me!

Great game! I really had the impression that I play Master of Orion 2 *sigh*

I was shocked that combat is ... different ... with theses cards you can draw. However this is a fresh try and can definitely be interesting when there would be more cards, especially more one-time cards you could for example build (just an idea).

Fleet moving and engagement is still buggy (very fast reacting ai, no fleeing) and needs some polish.

And the game definetely needs spies! There need to be a possibility to spy on the types of ships in fleets and to find out about the research of opponents.

I've never into strategy games much. Played Civ1 or 2 (can't remember which one) years ago and more recently tried Galciv2 and AI War: Fleet command and they are great games but I preordered the emperor edition last night and just want to say that this game is very addictive. Can't really compare it to anything other than Galciv2 but it's already pretty amazing and it's still alpha. To repeat what's been said many times already, the gui and the graphics and very good. It's a long way from alpha to final product so it'll be interesting to see where they go with it. They only odd thing so far is the battle mechanic with the cards. I like the cinematic sequence battles but picking which cards to use just seems to be a guessing game. I'm not sure if you're supposed to know which cards to use where or if it's just used to throw some randomness into the battles. Will keep trying and I assume unlocking more techs will give you more cards. Just wanted to say thanks to the company for a great game. If it's this good already, the final product should be amazing.
