i don't know but i know i can't place my heroes there... also yes, it has a red ring around it (red is my color)

though sophon 2 has a system right next to it with huge cultural border... but still, its not sophon 2 that's attacking me, but pirates!

Is it a (I don't know the correct terminology) "full and complete system belonging to you"? As in does it have your "cultural border"? If not then it's not a system of yours, yet. And I suspect that this fiddles with how your fleet can / or will respond. It sees it as "not mine", and takes the "shortest" route to it via your empire, which may not be very short......

Make sure you select your fleet and right click the solar system, not the connection. Sometimes the star can be hard to see.

Does it look like there is a whirlwind like connection between the two systems? If so that is a wormhole and requires a technology (Its in the bottom tech tree, cant remember name) to travel through it.
