Perhaps one of the three unannounced races is something Endless related, and the reason it didn't show up is because the ship model has not been patched in yet.

This may be the clue that it is a bug.

A memory is tickling me that positive events don't expire, and this is clearly a negative event.

Well, I guess my game is bugged then (not saying I would not expect this with it being alpha) as I got the SuperNova-Event quite early in 2 plays now.

I have not even ended 50 turns and the Nova goes Boom, crippling my sensors.

Interesting thing:

- my first playthrough is nearly turn 400

- my sensors are still crippled (shows it in the race description as well)

- my allies have a huge vision, always exceeding the borders of their influence

- my planets not even have the vision close to my borders, even fully upgraded with spy-tech

- The event is flagged "positive event"

This is exactly what happened to me. I'm thinking its a bug. I'm going to report it.

I have only had the -50% speed one so far.. that is, its the only negative iv had. getting plenty of positive ones.

I really do enjoy these random events, it really "spices" up the game, and can cripple or save my bacon at critical times.

Have gotten a few of the negative ones with no indication of whether or not they had ended, though I was very happy when I seemed to keep getting free techs over and over due to random events

I'm sure the ones that are in the game with no resolution will be fixed, but I can't wait to see if more (hopefully many more) will be added. It's little touches like this that kind of help to make the game feel alive and dynamic

got lucky one game where several times a pop-up would appear that said scientists researched random technologies for me, felt pretty good about that

Thx. Very usefull. Hope more random events are coming. Btw, to you know how many differents events are implanted in the game ?

Currently there are 31 random events. 12 global, 10 faction positives and 9 faction negatives. This ESWiki page has all of the random events from the English language files in the raw form. It doesn't show their effects exactly, and its hard to read (Formatting it is on the to do list); but its all there.

There are also some events which are instantaneous, like sabotage on ships.

I hope we'll have some times to show current events and show you their real effects in the panel when they start (for example, + 50XP on your Heroes, etc...).

Thank you for that!

I do enjoy the random events, even when the negative ones affect my empire.

I hope that once the game moves closer to release, we'll see some sort of turn indication though.

I got an event that gave me lots and lots of minus on my approval, empire-wide, and I'm sure it stayed for lots more that 10 turns (play on slow); could be something else that gave me the penalty after the event passed, though.

About global events: Why? I mean... As everyone gets them, say the +50% (or whatever) lane and warp speed I got today, the game balance will be the same after the event as it was before, so why bother?

On my first game an event happened that severely limited my ships and systems scan range, the popup went as follows.

"An unexplored and largely unimportant star went supernova, and the resultant shock and radiation wave has caused havoc on interstellar navigation and positioning systems. Until such systems can be recalibrated, there will be navigational and sensor difficulties."

I can't for the life of me figure out how to "re-calibrate" my ships sensors. Anyone else come across this?

Edit: Looking at the language files, there looks like a lot of events that can screw things up. Lets hear some stories about it I suppose...

After reading a bunch of these I'm starting to feel pretty good that the only event I've experienced thus far was something about the Dust flowing causing all my heroes to gain about 2 levels.

By the by we have a group set up for those gamers who absolutely love all Random Events, Random settings, etc!

I had one where I found a Endless ship, the crew was gone but it was supposed to have a nice armor but I can't find it in my fleet.

Random events are great, I love the fact that a carefully planned operation can be bought down by a random twist of fate.

and at the other end of the scale, a bleak outlook can be turned around completley

Sabotage is annoying right before a big battle, but getting a free hiveship is nice early game.

I usually get the a sabotage random event where all my ships get blown up and lose half their hit points. Haven't quite worked out how the get repaired. Ithink they regenerate over time.

I got the 50% speed cut again, and it indeed did go away. I did not count the turns, but it does seem to have been 10 - 15 turns. I will have to check in the management screen next time to see.

I was just looking around in game and in the empire management screen under empire wide bonus factors it says "-80% scan range form positive event". Don't know if its just the default display for random events or if its a glitch.

I'm pretty sure it's been around longer than 15 turns. Maybe because it thinks its a positive event.

I've gotten several, and I think they do run out after a time. There is just not information on when, where, or what they actually do. I am sure that info will show up in the release.

It looks like they have positive and negative effects. I had one which increased planetary sensor range, but the scientist which developed the technology ran off and started a company called 'spinmaster' or something like that, and sold the technology to everybody else.. Another was something to do with a glitch in ship engines due to the rapid rate of engine development which effectively halved ship speed, not sure if it was permanent though.

There was a pretty funny one where I got a free colony ship. The explanation was something like "due to the unknowns of faster than light travel, a copy of one of your colony ships have appeared. Don't ask questions, the mathematics are so complex that it would drive you insane, like that scientist who tried and now only says 'the galaxy is stretchy and made of cheese'''.

Then I got a really annoying one where apparently religious fanatics detonated bombs on all my ships which reduced health 10% or so. This happened right before I was going to launch a big offensive smiley: frown

Onyx I have experienced the exact same, though haven't been able to do anything about it either.

I had an event that told me a 'medicine-resistant super-bug' was rampaging through my empire. I couldn't find any information on what happened, though. I assume some population was lost somewhere? Without details, it was hard to care too much about it.
