Impossible game. horatio race, insane pirates. Start a game with a 5-6 planet world, then use that as your industrial world. After 20 turns or so, I am destroying cravers. So pop growth is very powerful.

love UE ships. love the economic/war play style. i love loading my ships up with stupid amounts of armour. in most games the money focused race is a little weak militarily and is forced to rely on trade and diplomacy to get through the game. but the UE have ships that tank very well, if you focus approval tech then the dust piles miles high and production on ecstatic worlds goes through the roof, their only fault is that they are slow to expand and develop colonies, lending them selves to turtleing-- my other favourite strategy pastime!

Right now, it's the Sophons. I want to love the others, but I can't stand how slow the ships are to start out. It's totally petty I know! And yet, there it is. That 45% research bonus is pretty huge too, and unlike most AI's, it's kinda pleasant to find where the Sophons on the map are. I tend to wish them well.



I've won with the Horatio and played a bit with the UE. I'm not a militarist, so I find the Hissho and Cravers hard to love.



If the game developers unveil a good lizardly or draconic race, I may have to abruptly jump ship, even if their bonuses aren't great. Maybe even something beaky like a gryphon or overt avian. These are all things I like. I'm really hoping for the lizard aesthetic though. Dragons and gryphons always look a little askew in science fiction; lizards and avians fit in better.



At present, the best aesthetic on the factions seems to me to be the Cravers. Can't love the hive thing, though. I really think it doesn't make a great deal of sense. With advanced sciences, surely they could be able to find some peace for themselves.

Cravers are the coolest and strongest, the horatio are almost on their level though.
