You can build advances that make invading the planet more difficult ~ but you can't build anything to help / penalise fleets in the system. At the very least, there should be buildable mcGuffins that give situational bonuses.



e.g.



"Orbital Weapons Platforms" ~ gives friendly fleets +4 attack rating [workslikeahero'smod] when in system.





This is easy to make within the confines of stuff already coded, doesn't require new assets [i.e.noneedtostartmakingthemodels/battleanimationsforspacestations] and would give some of the more useless / filler researches the potential to help your empire.
