My Thoughts on the Game and Improvements

Overall I love it to death! Even though it's still very buggy. ok down to business.

there need to be more moons and they should be useful. it's not only unrealistic but it would add much needed variation to the game. Gas giants should have like 8-20 moons. maybe have a project for each one and each one acts as a different small buff and you get to choose which ones you think are worth it and which ones arent?

The AI is always pissed at me that my military sucks. I understand that they might think I was easy pickin's but why are they Soooo T-ed off that I'm a tree hugging hippie who likes his agriculture and science?

if I send a ship to an unknown star in the ships tab it shows the name of the star even though I haven't been there yet to reveal the name.

terraforming planets seems to come way way way too late in the game. I would like to at least convert some of the most hostile planets to tundra before 200 turns in.

the tech is kind of mis-matched and I dont exactly know how you would go about fixing it. all the capitalist stuff is in with the command points, the industry unlock is in with the heavy science, ship unlock is in with terraforming planets, and the aggressive top tech seems very consistent.

I know this is supposed to all fit in with 4x categories but maybe it should fit together more naturally and have all the bio stuff together, all the science stuff together, industry together, and weapons together and let players figure out where in the 4x categories it all fits.

More planets would be nice. we have 8 in our solar system and pluto and a couple kuiper belt objects are pretty close.

I dont think trading ever happens. if it does i have no idea what's going on at all.

That's all i can come up with after drinking 3 victory golden monkey beers

Oh one more thing. the star background in the game is very pretty but it makes it very cluttered when you start revealing the real stars. in real life on earth we know exactly where the stars around us are. maybe for the game they could tone down the starry galaxy background and just reveal all the stars, but not the links between them, until you explore them.

Oi, oi, oi. Yowzers man.

Well the thing with the empires hating you for being weak is simple. The Hissho are like Klingons, enough said there. The UE are human industrialists who had rough luck with their initial colonization efforts and are grumpy. The Cravers see you as a lite snack, oh and they are all Evil. Bit of an odd choice for the alpha's lay out, but.... that ship has sailed into a black hole.

Tera-forming is set up right. It's a freakishly expensive process that should really take at least several decades in a best case scenario, but with ant truly conceivable tech would take centuries.

The ships are with the ENVIRONMENTAL techs and since ships need to have livable environments, this works fine. High tech industry requires a high tech level, again this fits properly.

The biggest parts of fielding armies are money and food. The command points are also in with the agricultural techs, so once again it is set up just fine.

The moon stuff isn't a bad idea and some rare systems that are more like Sol and even using truly strange set ups would be interesting.

That's a common mechanic in games like this, to prevent easy turtling. It's also realistic, I think. No civilization in Earth history ever lasted for long without a strong military to keep the barbarians away from the gates, even if they were pursuing "high culture" like the ancient Greeks (and look what happened to them, when the Romans showed up). Most 4X games follow that format.

As an amateur astronomer, I've always felt that was one of the silliest things about games like this. You've got the technology to cross between stars, but you can't do stellar cartography?

On the other hand, it's probably necessary to have a "fog of war" for gameplay reasons. Maybe there will be a mod at some point with a map reveal. It could be interesting to see the stars and a rough indication of planets in the system, without showing ownership or the travel routes. I don't think it would break the game too much if a map reveal also showed planet type in a system, without revealing all the details like population cap, resources or anomalies.

Even the Horatio hate me for being weak. also how the hell do they know I dont have a big military if they haven't scouted me? A human player wouldnt know until they poked around my systems.

The problem is I don't really see it ever happening in a game. I think it would be neat if in the very late game terraforming to increase your FIDS would be viable.

Well it's under "Exploration and Expansion" I still dont think ships with plants fits very well, if anything i think ships and industry should be together and science and the biology stuff should be together, and the weapons and the command points should be together.

The techs are in strange places but they balance out the overall symmetry of the trees.

More moons would throw off the economy.

What i also love is when you have a huge military, and then the AI still hates you because they think that you will use it............#AmericanProblems
