In your Steam Library, go to Endless Space, right-click on it and select properties. In the pop-up dialog box, choose the second tab, "Updates"



Does yours say "Do not automatically update this game"?



Select the drop-down, and choose the other option, "Always keep this game up to date".



Now close the box, and try again. Right-click Endless Space, and select properties, and go to the Updates tab.



Mine still says "Do not automatically update this game".



And that's not true of all my games. Anno 2070 is currently set to "Always keep this game up to date"

Mine was on "Always keep the game updated"

It downloaded a modified version (apparently some sort of file format change) and now it is set to automatically update.
