My first actual thread on this forum. Anyways I would like to know what you guys think of this new update. I've looked into it a bit now and I'm actually writing this directly from in-game smiley: biggrin

So I started a new game to see if you could actually try out this new race yet, unfortuneatly you couldn't. But hey..! They added new types of galaxies and new types of stars (or perhaps I'm a bit slow)

So far I've seen 1 new star, which is a red dwarf. And for galaxies there are disc galaxies and a type which consists of two galaxies colliding. Seems pretty cool for an update.

I thought we already had the colliding galaxies? The Twin Eliptical galaxy, which is the only one I play on now, has been available since I downloaded the game last week. I can't comment about the stars, though, I honestly never paid much attention to them.

Now if I can just get my gaming rig fixed so I can play this update...

Meh. I didn't notice then. Ony played the game like 5 days. Yet I take much care about what kind of galaxy I pick. Could also just be my game that is late on the updating.

First thread and already acting stupidly lol.. smiley: frown

I actually like the ovoid galaxy, but it would be cool if they would add black hole systems to the game for more interesting feel aka losing ships....

Nah, it's not acting stupidly. You simply didn't notice. It happens, no worries.

EDIT: Heh, I wouldn't mind being able to explore the center of a galaxy, check out some super-massive blackholes, like the Suicide Mission in Mass Effect 2.

I doubt it's supposed to happen, to find a lava planet with the trait "Garden of Eden"

Hah, the wonders of the RNG. I found one of those once and had a nice chuckle over it. If nothing else, small things like that keep the game humorous.

Ahhh they also allowing the HD resolution and VSync in the options now, which where previously unavailable which narked me off a little bit (I didn't complain because i knew it would come eventually)

But now i can play this game in Glorious Pretty Space Opera HD smiley: biggrin

Also they have added the rotating model viewer so you can see your ships in glorious 3D smiley: biggrin

Had that, but with an Asteroid Belt. Ah, the wonders of a temperate asteroid climate.

I actually enjoy those sort of situations, they make me laugh. I've not seen it yet but I'm waiting for an asteroid belt with seismic activity smiley: wink

loving the new update - being able to defend a planet is a game changer for me (for the better).

and i have to say after being on a few game forums in my time - you lot are the most helpful, polite, group of forum members i have ever had the pleasure to come across. I don't think i have seen one nasty comment. (yet)smiley: wink

No it's not but frankly at this stage of dev I'd rather they spend time worrying about other things, this is an example of something I suspect that's probably easier to fine tune later in the dev cycle if enough folks continue to be concerned over realism, or lack their of pertaining to couple of these situations.

It would be nice to have some more sensible odd balls, perhaps even run into the occasional Dyson Sphere or ring world. Never seen things like these pop up and it would really give you a sense of the galaxy having been lived in for a really, really long time with ludicrous races like Endless, Prothean, and Orions having existed and eventually met with disaster.

Yes, yes, yes! I like this idea a lot, random ancient Endless structures would definitely add a very cool feel to the game!
