I was playing on Normal. It was challenging at the start because I found the Cravers early on and used two systems to hold off their ships from a large part of the galaxy. This meant a lot of fighting in these systems, trying to rebuild my losses and develop a counter to their ships as well as colonise as fast as possible to the large area I had cornered off. This resulted in very bad system moral and a loss of money but when I had colonised a few systems I had a technology advantage over the Cravers which I used to destroy them. This left me with half the galaxy under my control and it was easy to guard against the remaining races by defending 3 key systems.



Overall the beginning and war was challenging but with half the galaxy colonised and my huge military research to destroy the Cravers I was miles ahead of the other races and won easily in the end. I think at one point I was making +1800 dust a turn and about 9000 research points a turn.

Thats what I usually end up doing, but my war with the Cravers was so hard fought and I gained so much territory by the time it was all over I had half of the system and was destroying the tech trees. So I decided just to go for the science victory and see what it was like.

Definitely play as the United Empire if you want money. They're my main faction, and I've gotten to the point in games that I can insta-buy five or six dreadnoughts at once every few turns. That's near the endgame, of course.

I had a real problem making money early in the game. But if you devote a system to just producing dust for a few turns you can keep even.

I had a war with the Cravers within the first 50 turns of my game, I managed to win a very long fight and when I met the other races I was miles ahead in terms of firepower.
