Why so many wormholes?

/agreed - but then I am a lightweight and being able to capture a constellation before having to deal with another faction suits me. I expect there are a lot of people who will prefer it though.

I chose huge map with 4 arms last time - that may explain the additional wormholes - but I had chosen the 4 arms because in previous games it seemed more likely to produce isolated constellations.

They look like a jet's vapor trail, instead of a simple line.

There are certainly more Wormholes now. I just started a game and got stuck with an AI in an isolated patch of 4 systems with like 6 wormholes leading out. Poor AI never had a chance smiley: smile. It certainly spices up the beginning of a game and makes early race for WH tech a must.

I've noticed it right afer Alpha 2 came out. It just feels like 'average of 3 wormholes per constellation' means 'average of 7 wormholes per constellation' now.

The number of wormholes did increase indeed with the new update, creating some pathfinding issue that some people have reported.

Hey I really like the number of wormholes now that you can properly blockade one. Having a great time in my current game, managed to choke of half the map from the 3 AI players before any of their scouts even showed themselves (and then I just destroyed each one before they managed to get a look at my empire.

Great game and getting better.

Thanks for the replies guys! I like that there's a workaround but I suppose I'll just try playing on disk maps for now, til the next update.

Open the game save bin with 7zip, choose edit, do Ctrl+F, type Save. Then say ok for 7zip. Reload the game save.

Beat me too it smiley: wink It's a good temporary workaround and if you spend some time you can figure our which one is which if there are specific ones you want to ditch.

Yeah, it has gone to an extreme. On the "clashing galaxies" type map I had a 4 sun constellation with at least 9 wormholes leading out of it. Two systems had 3 and 4 wormholes each O.o

Wormholes separate constellations, the less constellations you have the less wormholes you have. I think the map type effects this too. Just playing the Unique setting on constellations will get rid of all the wormholes.

Well for one, Wormhole pathfinding is borked.

And for another, I kind of liked them as an uncommon separator between constellations, an interstellar choke point instead of just a random replacement for a string line.

If you are using a spiral map, you probably want some wormholes to allows travel between the constellations. If you want no wormholes, try the disk map. That one is guaranteed to have no wormholes. I haven't tried all the others yet.

I'm not looking for maps with no wormholes but they seem to have gone from one extreme to the other. I don't want my home system to always have at least one and more likely more of them. It seems to me that it will force your home system to be a choke point in the mid game section where you can use wormholes but can't yet travel between non connected stars. That might be cool in some situations, but I don't like the idea of that being the case in almost every(if not every) game. I've tried restarting my game so many times I can't even count and I've yet to roll a start without at least one wormhole in the starting system.

I even have it set for low wormholes, and I still can't get a starting system without at least one.
