Your own race :D

So when the option to create your own race comes out what are you going to call them and what sort of backstory are they going to have?. Post your ideas on this thread and yets see what happens.

My race are going to be the asgard from the stargate franchise (major stargate nerd/fan over here). Their backstory will be the same as it is in the series. So if you want to know about them go watch all of the star gates out there hehe :3.

Uh-oh, I'll certainly create a ton of factions. Raging all the way from being serious, through being experimental, up to just joking around. So respectively I expect myself to lead one of the empires from my book, conquer the universe as Zerg and last, but definitely not least... win the game as SNSD <3

Stargate seems to be a really good idea. But i would chose the Alteraner(In english the same?) or Ancient.

Also the Drones auf Universe. Or the Vulcans(in English?) from StarTrek will be great.

As you see i love High-Tech, like the Sophons.

I have four kids, two giant dogs, four birds, and a fish - I thought I WAS creating my own race!

I would do the Caitians from Star Trek - there's something sexy about aggressive cat people in uniform.

The two ideas for custom races I've all but finished by now are both variants of the UE. I intend to shamelessly plug my ethnic groups into the game, so they'll boil down to Cossacks and the Spanish Empire in SPAAAACE.

I'm pretty much going to do the same as PANCZASU and maybe steal some races from some of my favorite franchise of all kinds of tv-series and games. Would be cool to create an honorable rival for the Hissho.. I'm thinking.. Sangheili hehe

Il just make a race based on my lovebirds there adorable, fickle, angry, territorial things like the hissho. may give them crowded planets and other traits. i have nothing better to do maybe as a joke race but then il find something i could seriously do like non euclidian creatures.

if we can get a feature where we can use a image file for custom races on the choose a faction menu that would be awesome.

The Vulpes. Cause I'm a fox! Hehe, their home planet I intend to write as a sort of pseudo earth where the evolution was a bit different, and Anthro Vulpines are the dominant race. :3 I have plenty of piccys to use for the race, and they are not even porn!

I already decided what styles they will have, being largely scientific and industrial. The culture would be shocking so a penalty to diplomacy with first contact(assuming that is possible). and I am thinking small offense defense penalties, maybe 10% each as its a peaceful race. only if I have to do that to work the balance, if not, well I dislike being overpowered in combat!

Referencing back to Mechanos's post, the opposite of the bold is enough to convince me that unfiltered custom images will not be pleasant. If the devs do decide to go along with it, they should definitely do so with a 'report' function to stop any perverts.

Long story short: slug people from a planet bombarded by unhealthy radiation from its star. They discover a way to prevent malformations from occuring but it is reserved only for their nobility. The cultural distance between higher and lower social classes becomes so substantial that nobles start to see themselves as gods. When the slug people achieve means of FTL travel they find themselves in need of new worshippers from different species. In other words they need slaves.

They are like Necron (Warhammer 40k) - Goa'uld (Stargate) - slug hybrid.

Why slug people? Because SLUG YOU, that's why.
