Can't remember about this, and searching for this in the forum wasn't very productive, but if this is already out there please close/delete -but redirect me there please!

Can someone confirm me, if disbanding fleets/ships to the hangar should decrease the upkeep?

Because I just started a game and since I already explored the galaxy arm where I am, I decided to disband the explorer ships to the hangar to reduce the upkeep.

The thing is this didn't happen, I was paying 4 Dust per turn for the two Scout ships (the original templates) and after disbanding them to the hangar I am still paying the 4 Dust per turn.

Thank you!

I'm pretty sure that disbanding the fleets should decrease your upkeep, although the fleet can't be used to defend your system if it comes under attack.

And I'm also pretty sure fleets will repair even without disbanding them.

I know if your ships have repair modules they will repair but without a repair module I have parked ships in an outpost at least havent tried a colony yet and they were not repaired

As long as ships are parked round a system they will repair each turn.

However, I'm not sure as to whether ships in the hanger decrease the amount you pay in upkeep. I believe it should do but I don't know whether it does or not.

Keep in mind that this is Alpha mode and there are still plenty of bugs, so that might be one.

Although I'm unfamilar with the military tech tree; does the Repair module say it repairs ships outside of combat? It would sort of make sense if modules only did anything inside of combat.

Yeah I was kind of wondering how you repaired yourself after a battle, I'm back at my planet but nothing seems to be happening.

Probably a bug.

Also, I've had this question for a while, figured I'd ask here:

What weapons are good in what phases of combat? I remember getting a tutorial window in my first battle but forgot it. I know kinetics are good in the melee phase, but what weapons work in the long range and mid range phases?

I tested the upkeep differences and it makes no difference to have the fleet out and in the hanger. There's a separate docking ships upkeep that amounts to the same as having the docked ships in an active fleet if you choose to put ships into the hanger.

Where did you see that docking ships upkeep?

I was almost sure that this should decrease the upkeep, but I can't remember where I read that...
