Hi, this looks like a great game with fantastic looking graphics.



I just wondered where the ideas came from ?



I used to play a game called Diaspora many years ago and also contributed to another game called Fuga Lacuna (when Diaspora closed down).



There seems to be some similarity, although much more up to date.



Be interesting if any of the old guys are working on this.

To be frank, I haven't heard of Diaspora, but I know alot of people are saying it's like the 'spiritual successor' to Master of Orion 2.



Master of Orion 2's (MOO2) similarities were;

• Heroes you can hire
• A 4x space strategy game on a 2D plain
• Different victory conditions
• Wormholes
• Raiders - Endless Space Pirates/MOO2 Antarens
• Tech trees
• Different classes of ships you could fully customize with weapons and modules
• Different planets in a star system with different conditions (Arid, etc) and anomalies
  
  

and probably more that don't immediately jump to mind

Other obvious candidates for ancestors might be SMAC (Sid Meir's Alpha Centauri) and more recently Galactic Civilisations I and II.

i guess there's a bunch of games out there that could be similar - i'd not heard of Master of Orion 2 though.
