Hum. If you look at the main site and click oin the progress tab, you'll see how far away the devs are from the beta.

Under the "art" section it says : Medium Pirate Model & Planet Evolutions

Medium pirate model, ok, we all know what that means.

But Planet Evolution ? Does it mean we'll see some kind of animations around the planet when you construct some improvement ? That you'll see small space ships around the planet when the population grows ?

Let us know your guesses !

It would definetly be nice to see all kinds of stuff (space stations, satellites, orbital elevators, large facilities on surface etc.) on and around the planet as the planet develops.

Just have to wait and see.

Yeah, would also like to know how they can pump out ships at a retarded rate, sans planet with the industrial capability to back it up. Just had a start where they had a dozen ships around my first colony, less then 5 turns after it achieved member status, after invading my second colony with 2 fleets of 4. Never mind all the other ships they had sailing back and forth between systems. They had more ships flying around then myself and the other two empires next to me combined. Wtf, and whereTF are all of em sposed to be coming from that they can outnumber 3 empires less then 50 turns into a start?

Pirates are fun with Cravers. I was thinking in my last game to let a system alone to have regularly pirates to butcher and gain science points... smiley: biggrin

Civilian ships flying around your planets aren't going to be as expensive as military ships. Think about the cost of building a corvette... if it had no weapons, no defenses, and no special modules. Just the hull. Civilian ships aren't going to mount state of the art weaponry. If they did, pirates would hardly be a concern. It might cost them even less than a military ship. Your ships are all designed for the rigors of interstellar travel, whereas the ships flitting around inside of systems are local, maybe even planetary.

They aren't flitting around inside a system. they travel between systems, hence, they have to deal with the rigours of interstellar travel too. And they are using the same crap first tier kinetics as anyone else.

Eh what? I must be confused as to what the context is/was. Ignore me, I've little to add to this discussion.

Sorry about that.

Bah. It's probably just the same, in development/needs tuning, problem as anything else. The pirates seem to grow like bacteria cultures in some starts.
