Well, Amoeba are confirmed now so the idea of having reveals in the flavor text has merit.

Emla -E Saprop -AE.

The Horatio had established a beachhead outpost in a system coveted by the Amoeba. Saprop -AE. at the time an administrator of a cloning facility, led a successful defense and counter-attack to secure their position. As a result, Horatio granted her a dust augmentation for service to the siblings.

According to this thread, the sowers are possibly some sort of AI.

Think about it now. The Cravers eat, so it may just be that the Sowers were created to counter this. Perhaps they will have the ability to counter act the Cravers locusts, returning devoured planets to normal FIDS (sow as in plant, not pig).

Ok, I have a pretty definitive answer about the other races. Oddly, there are 9 races in this list. Highlight for spoilers.

United Empire

Ameoba

Cravers

Sophons

Pilgrims

Hissho

Horatio

Sowers

Pirates

Judging simply by names and the flavor text, that would be the Sowers.

Pilgrims are most likely what people are calling the resistance. Pirates will most likely not be playable, and are simply the pirates we already see in game. What are they? My guess is a(nother) human faction (booooooo!).

If they do the opposite of Cravers, they could become powerful on long games. Maybe they start with a deficit, maybe not. But after 100 turns, if they get a 25% FIDS boost then they become awesome. Perhaps only a negative effect if its depleted, otherwise normal for first 100 turns on the planet, and then a bonus. Of course, this is all speculation based on the name.

Nope, its a Hissho. Read very carefully, says Alpha Hissho VI. The cards on either side say Alpha Sophon V and Alpha Hissho V. Just a Hissho.

All this Sowers talk and jokes about them being space pigs and having a section of their army called 'Pacifers' is giving me mental images of the Judoon from Doctor Who (okay they were more like Space Rhinos and PMC level Rent-a-Cops.... but still).

I love the idea, of having religious zealots for a race. They have the potential to be played in both a peaceful "Love & Peace!" kind of of way or they can with the whole "purify the universe with fire!" shtick. I personally prefer the latter and can think some awesome combat bonus's based around fanaticism. There is also great potential for some really bad-ass looking ships, I'm thinking floating cathedrals.

What about the Harmony mentioned in the description of the Amoeba?

The Amoeba is the oldest known race in the Endless Space universe after the sentient mineral species known as the Harmony.

EXACTLY ... no, while I see it and they are similar they are more gritty and rugged. Reminds me of races like the Myr from Magic the Gathering.

Hilera Zatonyhu

Zatonyhu's ability to build quality test and research systems was as impressive as her theoretical work. Discovering an unexpected skill in ground warfare when driving off a determined batch of Sower pacifiers, she has become a renowned governor.

Sow and sow are 2 completely different words with different pronunciations. You forgot that little detail. <(^_^)> *NYAH*

Pardon? Sow is one word that can be used in a verb form (to plant) or noun form (a female pig). It also has some connotation with pouring iron, but that is not really relevant.

actually the wording in the race reveal implies they can be militaristic since their goal is Terraforming regardless of who lives on the planet.

Wait if the Sowers, build and grow stuff on planets, why anyone would attack them. Hell invite them onto the plane to fix it up.

The thing is, they prepare the planets for the return of their endless masters, which people speculate to generally mean eradication of other sentient "controlling" lifeforms. My sarcasm detector is a bit off on this post, so if sarcasm was intended I apologize.

Since they are called "Pacifiers" I'm imagining a militaristic police like race. A "Good" military race to balance out the "Evil" Craver.

8th race is obviously Boratio, Horatio's evil twin who also just happened to stumble upon a cloning facility.

As a serious guess I would be shocked if one of the races did not turn out to be synthetics.

You guys might also have to think that the universe might be populated with more than the 8 Factions... Its just that factions might be so... overwhelming that the other civilisations do not stand a chance... I mean just look at some of the random events in the game and you will all have a laugh. smiley: smile

I have to say I found out that there will be two non-playable races.

The first: Mutant zombie stripper vampires ....... from mars. With their client race the bouncer-ians they seek to conquer the world one invaded strip club at a time.

The second: The occupy endless space race... they don't so much try to conquer, as they take over your parks and poop in your lawn.

You mean his church followers randomly bombing everything? We've currently got 40 members of the Alderbranchic Church in this forum... and we haven't got any bombs. No no. We're truly harmless... *needs a halo for that statement* (praying to Alderbranch: Please no pink one!)

Sophon

Horatio

Hissho

Sower

Amoeba

Resistance (???)

Pirates

I don't know if resistance is going to be the name of the 8th playable race.
