Victory Conditions

Now I do have a bit of a gripe over the victory conditions in the game, currently, an enemy achieves victory, its game over, same with 300 turns its game over(even when score victory is off, I can write this off as a bug though). This makes the game feel like an arena 4x game...which is what was attempted with MoO3, actually was a pain since 1 and 2 if an ai attained victory, it would put it into last stand mode where it was every other empire declared war on you and you either beat them all back and won or you crumpled and lost, but the flat out game over screen has left a bitter feeling since one game some craver on the other side of the galaxy had attained economic victory, I honestly could have accepted that they spent that 300k to "buy" out every other empire in the game and would have been willing to go down fighting because that would have been fun to do.

So...I'm also thinking, the empire that attains victory gets instant peace with all other races(even cravers) and some large bonuses to production, the other empires that goes along with the victory claim will get also peace with others and instant permanent war with the player, possibly the victory party instantly trades all their techs with each other so you would be facing a VERY potent force.

Bleh, wrote this before seeing there was a design discussion forum...so i guess this either needs to be deleted or moved...

Sounds like you're disappointed when the game suddenly ends because an enemy achieved victory. If you don't like certain victory objectives just go into the options and turn them off.

Or, realise the AI is about to achieve X victory type, and stop them >smiley: biggrin

Personally, so far I really like the way the victory objectives are but I haven't had them all happen yet.

yea, while i can see where your coming from, i did turn off all victory conditions and played a pretty fun game...then found ALOT of glaring bugs(dreadnaught gets level 11 and goes from roughly 20k hp to 2k hp) and the 300 turn game over even with score victory turned off...so yea, thats mostly why i'm posting, because i spent about 30 or so hours playing that 300 turn game...then i was reminded why one of the reasons why i liked master of orion...so figured i'd post about it instead of...well uselessly whine without trying to think of a reason of how it would have been more fun

First, you can deactivate victory conditions before starting a new game. You don't need to allow e.g. economic victory.

Second there's currently a bug, that I'll best simply quote

Victory conditions do work on the 30.5 version. However, it seems that even if you have disabled all the victory conditions, the game will still choose the Score Victory that is decided at turn 300.

We'll work on something to let you continue playing after 300 turns. smiley: smile
