I definitely love getting a new, good space 4X game. I love even more the fact that this one doesn't make me take control of my ships in combat if I don't want them to act stupid: I want to play an empire building game, not an RTS! (Not that I didn't love the other parts of SotS.)

They are coming out with a new Sim City which claims to work like a new version of the old empire builders similar in a lot of ways to Emperor, Ceaser, or that old Egyptian one that fails to state its name in my head. But Irregardless of the empire builders I absolutely love this style of game and was shocked by excited when I saw it on steam.

What I find so astounding and wonderful is that it is only considered an Alpha. Not only does this excite me greatly about the future of this wonderful game, but speaks wonder about the development company. It shows that they are highly professional and proficient and also makes me wander "What will they have in store for future games?".

I've only had a limited time to play but what I've seen so far is very nice!

I agree. Unfortunately, I'm terrible at this game. Still fun until I'm destroyed though

Well into my fifth game now and it's still totally effing awesome. I'm 40 years old, I should be better than staying up two hours late to play this game every night for a week. I love it, at least when I'm home from work. smiley: smile

Looking forward to the full release, although I'm with tmparis... I don't see much being added to the full version other than the new races and customization options at the start. This alpha release idea was brilliant!

I'm so relieved to hear that I'm not the only one who finds that the nights seem to have gotten much shorter since we started playing this game. I suspect that the Devs have accidentally created a piece of software that distorts relativistic physics while simulating near light speeds on the in game ships. Somehow I find that I've logged quite an insane number of hours compared to what it felt like.

I suspect that they may have to put warnings about that unintentional side effect in the finished game literature so new players can be warned ahead of time.

is this game comming out for the console or just the PC?
I have a hard time imagining a 4X game on a console. Unless otherwise noted, assume all games of this genre are PC-only (though you could take it to the tablet if you wanted, usually tablet games are quicker to play).

This game is great! I don't think it'll change too much when beta/final are released (save for the extra races, of course), but it's so much better than so many games that have tried this formula in a long time.

I agree, the game is fantastic and quite polished for an alpha. Very addictive and it looks like there's really good stuff to come.

I was at first a bit wary about purchasing a indie game, especially one that is a 4x space game (some of them tend to be terribly buggy),but holy s*** this game is addicting, even with it's share of bugs and "not in depth enough gameplay"(to put it crudely)it still ranks up there with one of my favorite strategy games,I just love it,I can't wait to see what the final product will be

It's a great game, still missing a few things but it's still not a finished product, and also there is always a possibility for mods smiley: smile

I have to say i really like the game as well and the fact that happiness is the limiting factor on colonization is quite cool.

Yeah, been awhile since I did an all nighter and I did it last night with this game.

One more turn syndrome strikes again, must be a flawed gene smiley: wink

Well I hardly give out cookies to anyone (I like them too much).

Since Endless Space has distracted me from playing SOSERebellionBeta I am going to award one of my precious cookies to the Amplitude Devs. smiley: smile

This game is alot of fun to play, I can see a massive mod future for it too! For an Alpha its very impressive!

You will be surprised how many indie/freeware/free to play gems there are. Given the large range PC gamer's enjoy it is also the reason I suspect why PC Game prices do not remain static & why console gamers are often stuck with set prices until the product disappears from the shelves.

If you are not afraid to use Dos Box to get an old freeware but addictive game to work you may also want to try out Quadnet. Also Plants vs Zombies and Orcs Must Die (both are available on Steam and are cheap) are also addictive, when it comes to free to play give Moon Breakers (Steam) a try.

If you have Unreal 3 download the "The Haunted Mod" or if you have the infinitely better Unreal Tournament 2004 game then try out the "Deathball"/ "Red Orchestra" and "Damnation" mods.

Would second these sentiments...for an alpha these guys have done a really, really good job.

I only had 4 hours sleep last night because of Endless Space...now I'm grumpy and tired...but looking forward to continuing my assault on the galaxy later tonight.

Agree with you. I also add that i encountered, so far (4 hours of play), ZERO bug. None, not a single one.

For an alpha version it's tremendous !
