That sounds like a dirty metaphor... Is this one of the "it was hard but I managed it" type of things? LOL

But all things aside, It is natural to compare this game with certain other games. But with all due respect, how can one truly be original in this genre? In the end it is an 4x sci-fi strategy, it will not suddenly turn into a purple dragon.

The game certainly has many similarities with other great sci-fi games, but as far as I can see now, it is not a copy of either one of them. On what merits do you claim it looks very much like GC 2?

Enlighten me how you think they are similar? Add in GC2 limitless ship build customization, free battle control and more animated immersive diplomacy screens then you have me sold. This could be the next GC3? yes It could be.

What do you mean by "free battle control"?

Comparing games is only productive to an extent, honestly.

If you compare games too much you just end up in a "WoW clone"-like debate that makes everyone look stupid.

I just don't like the actual designing part, you chose the purpose of the ship with is mods to be expected, but you have no control over the basics of the engines, lifesupport and crew quarters, i don't have any control over how the ship basicly functions with its computer systems and the stuff the the addes sensors, power grids and colonisation is bare.

And on top of that, there is no distinction between a combat vessel and a repair ship, a missile transport and a coloniser, a invasion cruiser and a battle cruiser. Now im not suggesting that that change the models, by add ons based upon what i select would be nice (Especially as i have spent more time in the GC2 ship editor then actually playing the game).

This, pretty much.

Boring? Is this accurate, even as an opinion? On what grounds would you call the Horatio, Sophons, Cravers, Hissho and the Amoeba (preliminary) designs boring? The humans have predictable designs, but what would you expect? To be more clear: what would you expect? What makes the designs boring, or do you just not like them in general?

I certany don't hate the game by any stretch, but i might have been a little defencive.

And for the design screen, i love the ships! the models and designs are amazing!

The galaxy map is quite bare and unispired, the economy is lack-luster in every war other then lore, the ship designing is boring and uncreative and the diplomacy is just pointless.

But (And i stress that for the people already tayping hate into the reply box, you know who you are.) Endless space has great potencial.....and thats more then almost any game developer to date has given me, hope.

Respond how you will, this is my opinion afterall, but do note that i base the game on how it is right now as i cannot and will not begin to fabricate what the game will be like untill it actually gets to that point, thats the curse of being a gamer for this long i have to separate what i expect a game to be like, and what it turns out to be.

As a reaction:

The galaxy map:

It is quite bare and there have been already many suggestions made. It is now up to the game devs to pick it up or denounce them with the hammer of derision. But to be quite frankly, the galaxymap is quite spartan, but in my view with a purpose: it is more practical. But it can use some more zest, so granted.

The economy:

If I'm not mistaken, the economy-model will be more expanded in the beta and the following released.

Ship design:

Diplomacy:

At the moment it is quite useless, granted. And at the moment I cannot see real improvement in the beta or gold-release.

I've been playing this game all day now, and I can't help but feel like the game is Galactic Civilizations 3.

Not accusing anyone of anything. I like it. There hasn't been a decent successor to GalCiv 2, and this game looks like it will definitely be worth the money and the wait.

Except that GalCiv's combat wasn't interactive at all, infact, you had less control over how the combat would come out then in this.

Its nothing like gc2, unless you could design your own ships, the diplomacy was more immersive and the combat was more interactive rather than just the same cinematics. But that is all what it could be, as its still alpha and has a long way to go. I think it has a lot of potential, that is why I paid money to partake in the design of the game and think it could be an awesome successor to gc2, ig2, sots, sotse and even dare I say it.. moo2.

I dont think that you should compare games they have lots in common all the time.

But their are some little things that make them individual.

It's more like pax imperia IMO. In fact it's almost just like pax imperia, and I love that game.

Hopefully the fans who invested in this game and the devs, make this game epic. Only time will tell.
