(Note: Haven't posted this in the proposal section on purpose, because right now this is a suggestion for the forum, more specific this subforum as all the competitions are here)



I just recently got a idea which I think could benefit the game A LOT. As I already stated in a thread I made 2 weeks ago and also posted on other threads I think the game music lacks variation. Especially the combat music because it's just 1 track so far and for one track to not get boring and annoying after the 100th time you hear it, it's got to be great. I think the track is good but I'll be honest, it's not that good. The space music heard during the turns is somewhat good but some more variation wouldn't hurt there as well, I barely recognize any tracks yet I know they are repeating. I know other space games with 2 or 3 times as much variation and they benefit greatly from that. Space Empires 5 for example, I think in terms of music it's really superior to ES right now, sometimes I just got this "Oh nice, that track is playing" feeling in SE5 which I totally miss in ES right now. It would kind of hurt me to see ES stay so inferior to other space games in terms of music as music is really important, especially in 4X and space games I think.



By now most of us should know the music is declared as finalized (100%) in the progress tab, so I assume there aren't going to be more tracks, and that is the problem I see. I don't know how the devs manage the music and who made the tracks but I assume it will be hard to just go back from 100% to make more tracks, and that's likely a bit much to ask for.



But ES is blessed with the great Games2Gether system, which involves the community, so why not let the community help out with the music as well? My idea is to make a competition so that people can make tracks for ES which might then be included in the final game, after refining and maybe voting.



ES gets more music and variation, the community gets involved even more and the devs won't have to bother wasting too much time on making more music. Everyone wins.





I would like to join the competition myself but I only aspire to be a musician right now, unfortunately I'm still far away from being able to make my own tracks. But I do have a lot to do with music and I edit tracks regularly if I feel something can be fixed, I have a feeling for those small milliseconds which are often crucial to music. I think I'm very well capable of organizing this competition with all the necessary guidelines for the creators if just I get the green light and some information about the current tracks from the devs.



Please allow us to make this game even better

I think it would be cool, but I myself would not be able to make any contribution towards it since I'm not a music writer/composer... should anyone else, however, be in a position to come up with some cool music to expand what's already in the game, then by all means, please do

I just noticed we indeed have someone who would participate, though a single person is probably not enough. The music in-game improved so I don't feel the need to pull this through as much as before but I still think this would be a great idea. An idea which really should have a little more than 21 votes. Any more opinions on this?

I won't stop anyone who wants to but personally I play in windowed mode with music off, other sound turned down and netflix open on the other side of the screen. Its how I play all turn based games or grindy games like super mnc.

I occasionaly play games like this in a similar matter, especially when the music bothers me, like it did really bad in thes game before the new music was added.
