[Discussion] Ships being stuck during cease-fire

So I had 3 fleets of mine orbiting an enemy system when they offered a cease-fire + a juice system.

I accepted to get the juicy system for free and because it didn't matter much who I turn my guns against instead.

Problem was my 3 fleets were stuck in this system. I could not attack them because I was in their area. But they blocked the system.

I think that's rather ridiculous that I cannot retreat my ships. Usually you have to declare war in a case like that. But good luck doing so when you just signed a cease-fire which does not allow that for 20 turns.

Those 3 fleets at that time were roundabout a third of my navy so it was a relatively big loss.

Intercepting probably should be handled differently. It would be pretty logical that the intercepting party would have to actually engage on the enemy instead of forcing him to engage which he cannot even do when in the opponents territory during cold-war/cease-fire.

So if I try to fly out of a system where a fleet is set to "intercept" it should actually intercept me and not just prevent the action from happening without even telling me. Best would be a popup like. "You are being intercepted. A) Fight your way out B) Stay here"

Actually it's not just cease-fire, you have to be in their are of influence too.

Spent a lot of time trying to figure out why in MY system I can't attack an ENEMY fleet during cold war status. Evidently it was that their area of influence covered my system. I think it's actually OK, maybe , not sure smiley: smile But the UI should provide an explanation WHY you can't attack, otherwise it is very annoying.

In Cold war you still can declare war in order to be able to move your fleets. In Cease-Fire you can't.

Another Possibility: Cease fire offer comes up along with an information box/mouse over telling you how many of your ships will be in trouble if you accept.

Or maybe they could add the option to automatically retreat to your closest planet. (yes you'd still risk losing them behind enemy lines ....but at least they wouldn't just stay stuck on top of some random planet.

Please use forum search for "teleport" to find 8-10 other threads where this is suggested. Hopefully it will be addressed soon.

I ran into this issue recently as well. Was at war with my neighbor (AI) and his empire overlapped one of my colonies, not outpost, and he had a ship there, a scout. When we went into ceasefire, his ship stayed there and blockaded my colony. I moved a ship there to try and remove him and I could not because of the ceasefire restriction. I cannot remember if he was also on intercept but if he was then I would be stuck there with my ship as well.

I agree, this needs to be addressed and worked out.
