Frankly, I find the AI is terrible with any good faction.

Not because of score, but because they're always so easy to make peace with you, and just sit there the whole game

They basically protect one of your flanks from invasion, and are an allied power until you decide to invade them for extra planets.

Sophons.

Most noticeable from loading back into a multiplayer game after D/C, they run at least 45% tax so they gain little or no science bonus from their race specialty.

Don't worry, it's not necessarily because you're inexperienced, sometimes the AI just manages to crush

you utterly, the AI isn't always bad smiley: smile

Like a lot of other people here, I'm going to have to say that the sowers are the worst. I've yet to actually a) lost a game aginst them on a small map, or b) finish worse than them in larger games, even at the higher dificulties.

From what I've seen it depends what kind of game I picked.

8 empire, huge galaxy = Hissho

But then I play sophons a lot in that type of game so I couldn't say if they're weak.

When I play smaller games I usually play hissho or cravers, but I quite often seen, in the case of the Hissho that I have a lot of techs I can trade to the sophons, which to be honest creeps me out.

On the other hand, I've only seen the sowers do well in 8 empire games if they get the chance to develop by themselves and are not harrassed too much.

I have to say the sowers and the hisso. Mainly the AI doesnt seem to pick planets that benefit from their affinity. with the hisso the AI doesnt seem to be agressive in trying to take advantage of theirs.

From my games the Horatio are always the best (Amobea and UE too) The cravers are also sometimes very good.

The worest one are the Sowers they suck in every game I played and Hissho also very often.

Posting this in desiign because the AI needs help for certain factions.

The sowers constantly do poorly from what I have seen and I think thats the ai not knowing how to use their affinity and traits. And although I can't figure out exactly why the Hissho are pretty bad.

On the good side the Horatio always do well, I think just pure flat fids bonuses really help them.

I think that's because you need to be constantly winning battles and conquering systems for their FIDS to keep up.

Sophons are kind slow but they do tend to counter all my ship "fits" if i do missiles in 3 turns they only have ships with flak and so on..

On the craver note, it only works until the AI keeps suing for peace. Then he gets sat down for twenty turns which can really cripple a Craver race. Worse, I have taking systems from them that are exhausted but so built up that they were losing nearly a large amount of dust a turn. I need to JB a save to see if they build trade buildings, I forget if they did as they are not in my current game

In my experience so far the Amoeba and the Horatio are most often my main competition in 8 player huge maps. The Sowers however never manage to really take off the ground and are crushed relatively early on.

Havent noticed but so far the best played by the AI was Amoeba. Also, at least for single player, the AI shouldnt pick multi versions of the same faction ruins the feeling of the lore (my thought at least)

TO be honest I am not sure which races it plays well. Now in my current game Horatio and Sophons are doing well, but unless I jail break the file I won't know if it took advantage of the hero cloning ability. That I still have many tech items to trade with Sophons makes me wonder, just what in the heck is it doing
