The latest G2G poll was (partially) about selecting a (fan-created) custom faction to the game. It's a nice gesture from the developers, but I don't see any point to it. By its definition, a custom faction can't have any unique gameplay affinities or ship visuals. Users could simply create that faction anyway by combining the various traits, so what exactly is the purpose? If we are going to create more factions for the game, why not just go the extra step and make them fully featured? I'm not trying to criticize anybody; I'm just curious.

I think their primary purpose is to serve as an example of how a custom race could look - who knows, it might become a fully featured race at some point.

I hope they do. Everyone can create a custom faction with one of the native shipsets and combine it with some treats, so this wouldn't be a really addition to the game.

I prefer the Fal' Hadei myself. I just really like their lore. Although I wish I could have submitted an entry to that contest (it was before I joined).

I was around but somehow it fell through the cracks and I didn't submit my own proposal because I just kept forgetting about it lol But Nosferatiel's was a good one so no regrets from me, I probably wouldn't have done it any better
