I just wonder why the united empire and sheredyn are exactly the same?

The Sheredyn are simply meant to be the bonus skin for those who ordered the Emperor's Edition. While I think it would be awesome to see them become their own unique thing as well...I'm perfectly content using them to mold my custom factions to my liking.

Now, all I want is a Sheredyn forum avatar, and I'll be set...I mean, all the other faction portraits are available. Surely we can get that awesome Sheredyn portrait as well. But, to Solentis and the rest of the dev team, keep up the awesome work with the game!

Sweet! I play a the Sheredyn almost every game, because I like the economy bonuses, portrait, and ship looks. Nice to see more art for the Sheredyn to make them a little different than United Empire!

I suppose the PMC part makes sense since they're a faction of the very business-oriented United Empire, but I've always seen them as a space Praetorian Guard: loyal and ferocious fighters for their emperor, but if you get on their bad side or start screwing up you should expect a knife in your back and a palace coup.

The Sheredyns are in fact, at the start, just a cosmetic change for the UE faction battleships who come with Emperor pack bonus. After the game release, we realize that it could be a nice surprise for the community to add a special portrait in the race selection menu, to make it more fun than a second portrait of the UE's emperor. And when the portrait was done, a little voice tell me "what about a diplomatic view character? And a special illustration?" So...

I noticed the same thing the first time i opened the game, i read somewhere ( don't recall where ) that there are minor cosmetic changes. Maybe it can be altered to reflect on their status as a fleet; like making them stronger in combat but reducing their economic effiency ? obviously we can do it in custom races but seeing as it is 'official' faction it looks like an odd duck compared with the other races who have admirable differences.
