Hi

Whem we produce one or more items on a system what happens to the extra production ?

- stays in the system until next production ?

- is wasted ?

- converted into Dust/other ?

- another thing ?

Honestly finished a game in normal not even noticing that you could produce/buy more than one item at the time, used to too many single produce games I guess.

Anyway anyone knows ?

Thanks a lot

One turn of overproduction is kept. So suppose your system has 100 industry and you have some destroyers which cost 30 ind each. You put four onto the queue and the delivery times show as 1,1,1,2. At the end of the second turn you have earned 200 industry and spent 120. Now you go to build more destroyers, and you put 6 on the queue. The delivery times all show 1. This is because the game kept the 80 leftover, plus the 100 you have now, so all six come in one turn. This means in three turns, you built 300 industry worth of ships.

However, suppose you build the first three, then forget and come back 10 turns later. You do not get 1000 overproduction. You are limited to the income of one turn (100 in this example). This makes management of build queues easier -- you don't have to keep queues overfull or manually compute the fractional turn values. But it doesn't allow the "abuse" of keeping 10000 points on reserve and insta-building a defense fleet when you get attacked.
