I know in Shogun 2, you were able to demand a trade embargo on other nations. You could also force allies of your enemy to block trade. This was awesome mico managing IMO. You could also negotiate peace between 2 nations or ask them to join war with you.
Yeah I really liked that in Shogun 2. Would really help with the runaway AI faction issue too. Sometimes I just wanna tell the Amoeba to chill and leave some of the galaxy alone! lol
